In the 13 Amendment it states that you can be a slave if you commit a crime. Has anyone ever in the United State been sentenced to be a slave. If so who? If not why not? Has it ever been used on someone(Like we request slavery isntead of 15-life)? Thank You.

Isn't it nice now that there has been a war on terror for the last 5 years the gov't has taken there focus off drug traffickers. I love the war on terror. Just keep putting money into anti- terrorism and we'll all be happy. Has anyone else noticed this?

I realise that so far there is only 4 bodies (fourth to be confirmed) but they have all been done within one week - serial killers usually only kill 1 a month.... Jack the ripper killed two of his victims within an hour, but that was because he was interupted. Sorry - bit of a sick interest of mine. If anyone out there lives in Ipswich - are you scared? I'd be terrified.

Is there a new Ripper loose in Britain? I blame the documentaries about Jack the Ripper stirring up the idea that you can do this to women and get away with it. Anybody think the police will catch this one?

I think they are breaking the law by doing so, but the security company insists that "sergent" is a rank and it does not imply police officer and it is perfectly fine in California law. Is that true? I always thought sergent is reserved for military and law enforcement only. Any one can shed some light on this? I am not quite convinced that "sergent" can be used "just like a supervisor" by a contracted security service.

It may be a stupid question but the cops seem to come out at the same time each month and write tickets to every 3rd person who is driving 3 miles over the speed limit. Yes they should be following the law I know. But where are they the rest of the month? Where does the money go?

I have three uncles, two of whom do not like the other, perhaps because he is more successful and they want him not to receive inheritance from gramps who died earlier in year. In order to get rid of him, they plan to have him killed at my other uncle's house. One night, said uncle and cousin were hanging around at uncle's house. Cousin was trying to get him to give him a ride to other uncle's house, where he would later be shot. It didn't go well because uncle was not willing to give ride, so cousin gets angry, storms outside, and shoots two bullets at windshield @ point blank range. He then leaves driveway, where uncle's girlfriend's ex-husband is waiting, and leaves. Uncle then calls police to make report and catch guy who just shot his car. Police catch cousin with 44 mag and bag of weed in getaway car, who claims he had to leave 'cuz uncle was shooting. He is then arrested and released on plea bargain, pleading guilty to shooting at uncle's house (no bullet holes were later found)

quick enough to a spouse's abuse of a child.

The spouse is charged with capital murder.

This is in Texas.

It's not like he stood by while she beat the child. He was at work when the fatal injuries occured & took the boy to the hospital the moment he got home.

I think the arguement would be "You knew what she was capable of & didn't stop her."

What would be the range? Least amount of jail-time vs. the max jail time for 'Injury to a Child."

I'm sure a lot of nonsense gets investigated by the police. Are they obligated to inform the accused so that he or she can sue his/her accuser(s)? Can that information later be mis-used against the wronged party, that he or she was investigated?

I had marijuana in my car, but i was pulled over for a expired sticker after I left and had travelled even further from the zone. i was arrested, and charged with possesion in a drug free zone. does the drug free zone count even though I was not in it when I was arrested. I was not near any churches, schools, arcades or anything. i was pulled over next to a abandoned house, self storage and a farmers field and two residences. please help me.

Someone I know was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies. And also faces misdemeanor charges of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Can any police officals, judges, lawyers, or criminal justice majors out there give me a guesstimate of how much time in jail this person would most likley face if found guilty on all counts? This all happened in NY and he was on parole on the time. Thanks!!!!
