Depends where you are. Here in NH, there is no penalty (we have a right to carry) as long as it isn't concealed. In Massachusetts, it's a mandatory year in jail.

No doubt you going to jail first and then depending on the state, and then depending if you have a criminal history, or are a felon and cannot be in possession of a firearm, man, there are so many options to your future. See ya........

Depends on where you live. One town out west was in the newspaper for passing an ordinance requiring its citizens to carry a gun or get fined. Of course when interviewed they said that they really wouldn't fine anyone, but were just trying to encourage people to carry guns. According to the newspaper article, the crime rate in that town dropped dramatically.

You need to specify what state. It is not illegal in some states, as long as you're not a felon.
