The practicality of any training is wasted on an individual who is unwilling to use it. You must have the will to survive at all times. Don't try to make it a fair fight, for the criminal will always cheat. Use your stick, tazer, stun gun, pepper spray, or your firearm, whichever is necessary.
Mindset is the principal ingredient, no matter what training you are taking. If you don't have it in your mind from the beginning that you may have to use lethal force on a crook, and be willing to use that force, you are in the wrong line of business.
Don't be the one saying," I took all that marksmanship training, but never thought I would ever have to use it."

It is in real sense practical, if you were on the same situation as what have been simulated during the demonstration of such defense technique. You know, in real life, attackers won't act like those villains seen on movies. If they have weapons, they'll just simply hit or shoot you. It would be better to have training on SELF DEFENSE DURING STREET FIGHTS.

From what I have heard, they teach simple, basic techniques. Those are also the best to use in real life situations.

lenml, i saw a skinny 16 year old beat up three cops before he was taken down by two more. Of course, he apparently had many years of martial arts training.

Most of the techniques are basic self defense, and many continue to learn more or take further classes, and many do not. I can hold my own pretty good, but when all else fails, K-9.
