Yes, and it was the greatest experience of my life!

I didn't have to worry about paying bills, I got free food and showers, and I got to meet some interesting people with a variety of personalities during my time.

edit: hehe rich, did you read one of my old answers?

Worked in a prison for about 23 years. Most inmates will say they are innocent or a victim of circunstance, they were forced into it, the other guy did it. the gang had him do it. The majority will say they didn't deserve what they got. Prison offers: education fron first grade level to college level and can earn a degree in both vocational and acacademic education. Three meals a day. Yard and top flight gym recreation. Free Doctor and medicine including dialysis (expensive.) Religious services of their choice. Library, legal services. They can have radio and TV in their cells. Free laundering, hair cuts, visits from approved family, lawyers, friends, etc. I could go on but you get the idea. For some, this is the best they have ever had it. I definitely would NOT trade places with any of them. A LOT of their freedom is taken away. Prison is still punishment but it's not as severe as some might think. The above listed programs may differ from state to state and will differ depending on what class the inmate is in. A guy with too many speeding tickets on his record isn't going to br put in the same prison as a serial killer etc. Gang and gang pressure is a major problem. Gang activity is supposed to be prohibted but it still manages to go on. Inmates like to strut their feathers when they can trying to impress someone. Race can be a big problem too. Sexual misconduct can be problematic as well. As the adage goes: this is your @ss hole on the streets-o- and this is your @ss hole in prison-O- . Get the idea? Under staffing, promoting through politics and/or $ under the table rather than promoting on ones merit, playing favoritism, plus some staff just not giving a $hit are problems as well. In the news, you may hear of prison riots or a prison brake out, but they a getting to br pretty rare. Prisons are inspected by state officials, once or twice a year and can also come unexpctedly so things have to be up to an acceptable code in all areas. Did the punishment fit the crime? Generally I would say yes, BUT by NO means all the time. I could go on but I'll stop now. Hope this helps.

The irony is this: prison works only for smart people, plain and simple. Of those whom go to prison 75% will return, but that doesn't mean the other 25% are intelligent or won't commit another crime.....what it means is that of that 25% a certain amount of people don't do anything, and the other group does still commit crime, but have learned how not to get caught. Prison is an archaic form of punishment that has proven itself to not work at all. They're overcrowded, about 50% of the guards are malicious psychopaths and the punishment rarely fits the time. Drug abusers, users and sellers shouldn't be sent to prison first of all....that is a joke to say the least, and there are many a statesman, senator, congressman/woman and every day person that will agree with that statement. For pedophiles and violent sex offenders their average time is three years of time? Hello? I was arrested for selling pot a couple of times, second time did nine months.....Yet someone whom preyed on children that I had met inside was doing 14 months? Hello? Ironically I didn't smoke the pot, just sold it....So, here I am selling a weed that grows from the ground and doing nine months while the person next to me is raping children and is doing five months more than me. You tell me if the system works. Did it work for me? Yes, because I'm smart. lol. Remember what Mark Twain said of prison guards.... that because they take care of prisoners it is actually they that are the dregs of society. be well, Jack

Prison for women is nothing It is kindergarden and that goes for prisons from california to washington. The worst part of prison is the psycho guards who need to be in prison for all the sexual misconduct. A woman in prison can get anything shes wants from a male guard because they are such sick bastards.I know this, they bring drugs ,lighters, food, and some tramp gets it for jacking a guard off or other unmentionable things. It is a fact been there seen it . Of course I made sure one of the tramps was my buddy always needed a lighter. Anyway as far as doing time its a piece of cake prison will not change anyone, eventually you will wake up and see that getting in trouble and going to prison is such a waste of a life. I know I woke up one day and said thats it I am done this was four years ago and I am out for good

I went for something retarded. I got fed food that was rotten and yelled at for no good reason. Apparently I talked to a person I wasn't supposed to. Maybe if I had killed someone it would have fit but I think it was a bit too much for what I did. And the beds suck.

hey i got busted for Possession of Cocaine. and it wasn't even mine my friend said he knew this guy and we all took a ride in his car he drove through a stop sign motorcycle cop pulled us over and said he smelled something and little did i know under that guy's foot was a bag of cocaine and we all got busted because he didn't claim it was his. i spent only a night in jail because my dad is a lawyer and he bailed me and my friend out. but the guy is still in jail and it has been like 2 week already. i was in a cage with some other dude that looked weird. but was cool i didn't get beaten or raped by bubba. LOL. ( btw i know i didn't answer your question but that was my experience) and the punishment did not justify the means in my situation.
