What are you on probation for? Was the crime committed before or after you were married?
Most states prohibit association with known felons. However, if you were already married, it isn't going to be a problem. He should let his supervisor know what is going on, just to be sure that no one thinks that he is attempting to conceal your probationary status.

Actually some states have 'outsourced' the job of running some of their correctional institutions to private companies. In general I'd say yes it's a government job, but there's an outside chance that it isn't.

If your husband was a new employee they would do a background check.Since he`s been there awhile why would they all of a sudden do a check? And i`m pretty sure they don`t have some super computer watching every ones relatives and wives. Would he get fired is irrelevant.....they will never look and why would they at this point?

Probably, it might depend on what state you live in. But, I am living with a police officer and I was told that everything I do reflects on him. So, I'd have to say yes, but again, it might depend on where you live. (and what you did to get put on probation)

No, not as long as he reports it to his department, they are required to report any criminal activity of those close in his family.
If he does not report it, then an inmate that finds out, could use it against him to blackmail him, so if he does not report it, and they find out, they take it alot more seroius
