What kinda handcuffs do you like Hinged or old-school or mabey you have tried the new ASP overmold plastic cuffs. If anyone has tryed the new ASP cuffs what do you think about them I got a pair but havent had the chance to use them yet. Do they work well, are the solid do they break

I use linked cuffs. Their easier to get on and usually fit more wrist sizes.
I've seen the ASP cuffs. They are lighter and seem to work just fine, however, they are thicker than "standard" cuffs and don't fit in all cuff cases. Thats the only reason I didn't buy a pair.

Hinged works well for suspect manipulation. Those babies just don't give. However, they are sometimes hard to work with when wrestling to get a bad guy all cuffed up. I carry both types. I've never seen the ASP cuff. We have some cuffs here that are covered with rubber; they work just like regular cuffs.

Like most answers, it is preference. As far as brand, I prefer Peerless solely because I like the double lock better than S & W. As far as type, I think chain is more practical. True you can "handle" someone better in a hinged cuff, but they can be a pain the *** to get on a fighter!!

I pefer the old-school cuffs, its a pain in the butt to try and cuff someone who is fightin you with hinged cuffs. But I still perfer the "zip-ties". To me, it does not matter if the dirtbag is in pain or not, I am not his mommie. But if they wish to continue to fight and resist, I only have one phrase, K-9.

I prefer the old-school ones and they are really the only ones that we are suppose to use as MP's but I have a lot of friends that wish we could use the Hinged ones.

i perfer the oldschool cuffs. but if someone pisses me off i will use the hinged cuffs
