Law Enforcement & Police - December 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Law Enforcement & Police

This sounds like a weird question, but maybe the police officers on here can help me. I have this fascination with law enforcement and being a female that's 5'2" and 90 lbs., I'm thinking I probably wouldn't have a very good shot of ever having a future in any "in the field" law enforcement work. ;) I've always wanted to see the inside of a police station, but are civilians just allowed to walk in? If so, what would a police officer do if you stopped by and said "Oh, I just wanted to have a look around?"

what do you think about a girl becoming a cop? I mean do you think girls can become cops or is being a cop just a man's job?

i would understand if he was on duty and needed his medication so he can hurry back to work, this is understandable. but thru his conversation he was getting off work and want to try to hurry back and watch a football game. who in the hell he think he is? i told him to go to the back of the line like everyone else. i understand the importance of his job but dang, i was a marine in beirut lebanon dodging booby traps and insurgencies when he was at an age playing with dolls with his sister. was i wrong? he should realize other people have or done important things in life besides himself. im from louisiana

If i'm driving down the road and I see someone who has gotten into an accident and I don't stop to offer assistance can I be pulled over?

I was driving along, minding my own business, when I noticed the flash of blue lights in my rearview mirror. A police car was behind me, indicating that I needed to pull over to the side of the road. At that point, many things flashed through my mind. Did the officer see me blow through that stop sign? Did he know that I was doing 80 mph through a 30 mph zone? How would I explain the underage prostitute in the passenger seat, snorting blow off my scrotum?

I went to take a swig from my 40 oz bottle of malt liquor, when I heard a tapping noise on my window. Looking over, there was the officer, motioning for me to open my window. I rolled it down to see what he wanted.

“Do you know how fast you were going?” Asked the officer.

Without even bothering to remove the smoldering joint from my mouth, I let loose with a thunderous, liquor-fueled belch, the likes of which fogged up the officer’s mirror-tinted sun glasses.

It also states the victim died almost immediately at the scene. The man died in the street with a stranger holding his hand. The person ran a stop sign (don't know the speed), hit a Ford F250 truck which spun around into a caddy where the victim was killed. Had to be high speed to have had such an impact. Agree??? This happened in Florida.

when i was fifteen i started up glamour moddelling with and unregistered man who was a photographer he had had many girls he helped get in to a career in moddeling he convinced my mother that i was perfect and me as well it started off just basic glamour shots but as time went by he offered more money for more action me bieng the child i was did not think of the consequences only the money involved and in time ended up doing totally naked shots for men i has never met, lately it has really been bugging me im worried that if i do get in to a career in moddeling these will come out i feel very betrayed and discusted that a grown man would stoop so low i have been wondering if i should contact the police and get him charged, for this but i am scared of the publicity it may cause while i was working with him he talked of other girls who were underage working for him and i know that he would still have the photos of me i am nearly 18 and worried that he will get away with the what do i do!

From my understanding inmates respect you based on your offense. And if I heard right cop killers and strong armed robbers get treated the best while rapists and pedos would do themselves a favor to hang themselves..... what about felony-non support(back child support)

btw, I didn't create that system so if you don't like how its set up, sorry. I don't intend to try to change it when I get there either.

I am a white man with a tattoo on my shoulder blade of the El Salvadorian flag. So when I start my bit in a few months, I was wondering.... who's gonna shank me first? Will it be the Mexicans, because they'll think I'm stomping their flag? Or the polar bears because they'll think I'm a trader? Or maybe the blacks because I won't have protection from the whites or the mexicans?

Never done more a night in the drunk tank until now.

If you get in an accident in the morning and then purchase insurance that same day is it illeagal?
We only want to be able to pay for the other drivers.
not us
my friend would have had insurance but her policy expired a couple months ago and she did not have money. Even to this date she is broke.
barely making it paycheck to paycheck
I can help her purchase the insurance now that I know...
Main worry, though could this be looked upon as fraud or is getting insurance asap the smart thing to do?

I am 18, with a fairly fast car. I had a speeding ticket last year that went on my record, then I got one over Thanksgiving break for speeding 19 over. 2 weeks later (December 3) I was roasting my tires for some friends, and a cop busted me on it. Reckless Driving "In excess of over 100 ft" (which it really was less than 100ft)
They poured some brake fluid on my back tires, and I did a heavy power brake and smoked them for another 30 feet or so.

The cops are not too fond of me, I live in a big town/small city.
I've been to defensive driving like 2 years ago. I heard about community service, but really I want to keep it off my insurance

Any ideas for beating the ticket and/or keeping it off insurance?
I'm pretty sure the cop got it on video.

No smart-*** comments like "Don't do stupid crap" I can't change what I already did, but I see people getting out of stuff like this all the time because of connections...

I live in Oklahoma if anyone knows Oklahoma laws good

My friend and I were in the fastlane on the freeway probably going 55 mph. the traffic slowed down to 10-20 mph very abruptly and a collision with the car in front of us almost occurred. Traffic started moving forward again, then she (my friend) began to move forward and we looked at each other with the thought of "WOW, that WAS close" (It was for a split second) Then when we looked back to the road, the car in front of us was now completley stopped and sure enough we hit them. We do not know what happened. We don't know if a collision had already occured and we drove into it.We also don't know if she hit the car and then caused that car to hit the car in front of it and so on until 5 cars became involved. We were in a newer Ford truck (full size)I've been told by a reliable source that a vehicle would have a hard time causing that large of a chain reaction going roughly 30-35 mph...Fortunatley, almost everybody involved seemed OK, and no airbags deployed... This is where I need your advice, My friend did not have her policy renewed since 4-5 months ago. The police officer took her old policy number anyways and let us go. She doesn't know what to do and I don't know what to tell her. She doesn't care about the truck but is scared beyond belief about all the other cars and drivers. Her truck was still able to opperate.I need sound advice to help calm her down, She thinks her life is over... Please, honesty is good but don't try and scare us more unless you know it's the absolute truth. Yes she knows her policy was probably expired but she didn't know it happened 4-5 months ago. I know this girl, she is a good person, The only reason she didn't have insurance is because she has no money, She doesn't drink or smoke and is still barely scraping by paycheck to paycheck, All her money is going to her lawyer expenses from a bad divorce, and all the bills associated with it. This just happened today Does somebody out there know what she might be facing?

I have a speeding ticket on my license, I'm about to go to court for another speeding ticket (19 over) and a reckless driving ticket (for burning tires). I am 18, with a Nissan 300zx (2 seater sports car)

My insurance is currently $120 a month for liability (I think) , and will probably go WAY up

I was thinking, what if I don't renew my insurance? Will I just get a $200 ticket when I get pulled over for it? $200 ticket >>> $300 a month for insurance

More knowledge the better, cuz the 2 tickets I just got are gonna cost me out the ***, and insurance is ridiculous anyways, I have 0 wrecks, I'm considered "high risk" with tickets even though its just speeding and burning tires. Speeding on old highways with nobody on them, the worst thing I have to worry about is deer. Burning tires in secluded areas on roads nobody drives on really.

I just opened a mail from the City of Boston. I was surprised and shocked to find an overdue ticket Violation in the amout of $60. The Reason: Double parking. I have never ever got a ticket in the location mentioned, and also never got the original ticket to pay.
It is really unfair! and now they increased the fine because they have not recieved the first payment. PLease help, what do i do?
Can they issue a ticket violation without handing it to you?

I've heard for years that you can pay more than the fine, and the court has to keep the case open until you cash the check. Is that an urban legend or is there truth to this?
