I'm not sure if you can, actually, but yeah, ask a lawyer. The best thing you can do IMO is to leave a tape recorder in your car. When you get pulled over, turn it on so it records everything. Take it to a lawyer later and have him review the tape and make sure that the police didn't do anything illegal (i.e. illegally search your car. This happens very routinely, every day, to the point where it's so normal now that people don't even know they're being ILLEGALLY searched). If they did, fight it as hard as you possibly can.

If it is going to be used against you, the DA has to give a copy of it to your lawyer when they get to the discovery phase.

If you were stopped and issued a ticket, you will have to get a lawyer and have it subpoenaed for court.

If you were stopped and want to complain about either being taped or about something the officer did or said, you will have to file a formal complaint, and then probably have to get an attorney to subpoena the tape.

no and neither will they. Their service is to serve and protect themselves. Haven't you realized that yet? Police is all for themselves and not you. Stay as far away from them as you can!
