Would you provide me with some demographics for Cottage Grove, Crime rate, gang problems, ethnic %s, etc. I moved away as a child in 1957, but have very fond memories. My Wife and I are now retired, and the small City (50K) were we now live has had numerous gang related killings this year and 4 just last week, and its estimated that we have 500+ gang members. We are looking for a safer enviroment. Thank You - Larry Garvin - garvinyc3@yahoo.com

Hello, I am 18 years old and I have just got an infraction/"Disturbing the Peace". Will this hurt me on job applications or getting licenses? I have a job interview coming up with the Police Department to become a police cadet. Will this infraction significantly reduce my chances of becoming a police cadet or becomeing a police officer? Do I even HAVE to tell them about the infraction?
Thanks in Advance!

My girlfriend is a dog trainer (mostly search and rescue, but some obedience). She was driving in upstate New York with 2 dogs in crates in the back of her full sized Bronco. The weather was in the 50's. She stopped at a fast food resterant for a quick bite (the dogs had already been fed and watered and did their business before she stopped for herself) cracked the front and back windows for ventilation. When she came out of the resterant appox 15 minutes. A cop was trying to slimjim her lock and an animal control officer and K9 unit were there trying to rescue her "abused" animals. After a heated argument she was let go with a warning. Is there a law how long you can leave animals unattended in a car or truck without abusing them? If so, do K9 cops stop for donuts?

Okay, no stupid answers please. I said please.

Okay, last night i received a parking ticket for my car that was parked directly in front of my house, on a semi-busy 4 lane street. The ticket states that there is no parking between 2am and 6 am without a permit. The ticket also states that I was parked at an address that is at the other side of the block (about a third of a mile away). My address is 506, and the ticket says 700. Isn't that a big difference? I have walked up and down the entire block and even across the street. I can say for sure that there is NO signs posted, about this ordinance.

Is there a rule about where signs must be posted? Does this go under the "Freedom of Information Act?"
Does the wrong location on the ticket negate the violation?

And before you say "Oh it's not that much," no, it isn't. It's only about 40 dollars. But I really can't afford to pay for something that i don't deserve and couldn't avoid (especially with Christmas so soon!)

Is it illegal for a 13yrold to threatend an adult, "I will kick your azz!"?

The kid threatens to kick azz quite often. I am tired of it. His parent does not correct him. I am ready to call the police.

Can anyone direct me to the best sites, or site key words to search to help me find cases where our government (federal, state or local) employed deadly force? Waco, Ruby Ridge, the incident in Philidelphia (Moon?) are well known but I'm hoping to expand my research to incidents that don't recieve national attention. Is there a site I can access that law students use? An organization that compiles this information or statistics? Anything from local papers or even if you know of a case (ie In Michigan a 15 year old boy with a history of mental problems is killed by police after his parents called for assistance) you think is relevant, current or not. Thank you.

Many states require new residents to convert their driver licenses to that state with X days of becoming residents. What is the penalty of not doing so? I did a lot of research online and could not find any previous cases were a driver was penalized.

Now, O.J. either just wrote a book or is writing a book telling how he would have committed the murder...but in an interview, a journalist said that O.J. pretty much admitted to the murder. Now if you can't be tried for the same crime twice, if O.J. really did admit that he killed them, can he be tried again?

What is just cause for a policeman hitting you? If you are in a police chase because you were driving to endanger, at what point when the police arrest you are they authorized to hit you? Is there some standard to go buy on the books? Should you be taken to the hospital by ambulance or can the police take you when they hurt you? Incident occurred in Salem NH in May.

I just moved to a new neighborhood and when reading up about it on wikipedia i found out that a murder occurred here about 10 years ago. I looked up some more info and it turns out it was on my very street! How can I find out the exact address of where the murder occurred? I'm not a weirdo or anything, it just creeped me out realizing that it happened on this street and I wanted to learn more. The problem is I can't find any details besides the street name. Where can I look to find the exact address? Is there a way to search the police records online or something?

The son is charged with 3 felonies and does not understand police protocol ie when they are allowed to use force? They probably thought he was nuts. The son is charged in 2nd degree assualt to a police officer because the police officer in Salem NH, broke his wrist while punching the son? The son allegedly drove 60 mph down the wrong side of a road that was limited to 30 mph and then drove through a construction fence, continuing to outrun police with the fence bar attached to the hood of his car until he flipped the car 4 times totalling the car because he says he had a suspended license and an uninspected vehicle? He says when the police asked him his name that they told him that he was not giving his proper name and then he told them to look in his f!@#$% wallet. I understand that this type of response is considered to be combative behavior on the part of a suspect. He was hit over the head with a billy club too according to him. There were 6 policemen who arrested him.

I have a CA DL and I was pulled over for driving 84 in a 65 zone in the state of NC (near city of Greensboro) I thought they will mail me a letter to tell me how much to pay for the fine so I threw away the ticket I got and since they never did I totally forgot about this whole thing. Then in Nov I got a letter from NC court telling me I will not be allowed to drive a car in NC anymore since I failed to show up in court, so I called the court and they told me I have to show up in person since I was over 80MPH. Now my question is should I spend $500 to $1000 plus (round trip tickets, hotel, rental car and a heavy fine) to go to NC to solve this issue so I can continue drive in NC (I don’t think I will go there anymore anyway), or I should just go ahead have my driving privilege taken away in NC. I mean this won’t affect my record in the state of CA right? I need some advice. Thank you.
