In my service, we receive court notification slips when we have court. It is our responsibility to organize these and not to forget. If we do the crown attorney's office contacts our supervisors and we can get charged under the "police services act" (governs police behaviour). I know someone who lost 20 hours worth of wages for forgetting a court date. We are very, very careful not to forget them. If we can't attend because we are sick or we have a course or something the crown usually will adjourn the case to another date.

They never forget. On the back of the Officer's copy of the citation notes of the incident are written. Also there will be a video of the event which will be placed into evidence and used at the trial. As for as the County which I live the Justice of the Peace or the Municipal Court will issue a failure to appear for the Officer which may not result in his arrest but may result in his termination or leave without pay for a week or so.

All the prior answers are correct, but leave out one point you should know. Your first appearance in court will only be to plead "guilty" or "not guilty", if you can't work out something with the prosecutor. If you plead "not guilty", a trial date will be set, and the officer will be notified of it. So he isn't at all concerned with remembering your first court date. The state doesn't want to take him off the job if it doesn't need him as a witness.

No. If he's not in court it'll be because he HAD to be somewhere else but not because he forgot. A big part of being a cop is the paper work so you are more likely to forget the date than he is.

The cop may well forget but the court wont. If you miss your date then you will be in contempt of court and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Dont miss your court date!

I CAN TELL YOU THAT HE WON'T FORGET BECAUSE POLICE OFFICERS RECEIVE HEARING NOTICES. MOST STATES GIVE YOU TEN DAYS TO PLEAD GUILTY OR NOT, AFTER THAT, THE FINES GO UP AND THEN IT TURNS INTO AN ARREST WARRANT.

WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT AN OFFICER TRYING TO HELP YOU? So what if she's from Canada.

I'll laugh when you still have to pay the fine.
