If an establishment like a hospital is a smoke free zone is it illegal to smoke around these areas. Can you get a ticket if you are caught? Just curious.

It depends on the municipality. This is not a state or federal law. Usually non-smoking laws are subject to the city ordinances.

In Texas they are doing smoking bans on a city to city basis. My city just cracked down on it and if you get busted smoking in area that is not designated for smoking you get a hefty fine.

i would think so, because most places have a sign posted saying no smoking within x number of yards from the building so, if so inclined i believe you could be, all is up to the officer who catches you, and what the las allows in your area

here in Florida they have set areas for you to smoke in, as well as at the hospital......so I would assume so long as you are in the designated areas there would be no problem.

It depends on your city. However, you can get removed from the premises if you won't abide by their ground rules.
