If you got pulled over in the future, why would the police take you to jail if you had an unpaid Red Light Camera Ticket on your record?
The red light ticket is the only traffic violation that is civil instead of criminal, doesn't even count as points on a DMV record. They can't even be sure you got it in the mail since no steps are taken to have it signed for (which you would have to do to serve a lawsuit, you can't mail it). Are they seriously going to take a person to jail if they happened to get pulled over for something else? I highly doubt it. Has this happened to anyone?
For all of you about to scold and harrass me, i was in the intersection for 0.5 seconds - read for yourself the reports about how they shorten yellows, which increases ticketing from 20/month per intersection to over 200. Read the meeting minutes yourself on the net. You will also find, of the top 20 dangerous intersections in SD, only 2 have camaras, the other 18 are in more affluent areas.
