those big, foot long kitchen knives, can i store one of them in my car? without any intension of harming anyone? is it legal and ok with police officers? does it have to be concealed?

Probably not legal. It really depends on what state you live in.
No hard and fast rule.
There is a difference in folding pocket knives, fixed blade knives and hunting knives.
Ask a cop or Google: knife laws for your state.

You are more likely to get in trouble if it is concealed than if it is visible. Concealing it creates the impression that you intend to use it as a weapon. If it is plainly visible, you could be on your way to a pot luck dinner.

Carrying a concealed weapon (whatever it is) is against the law, unless you happen to be licensed (like Private Detectives). NO ONE else can carry any weapon, whatever it is. If a cop saw you with it, you would definitely find yourself being face planted on the nearest hard surface.

It is a weapon and illegal. Unless it is in your trunk. If it is concealed and you do not have a concealed weapons permit then your in real trouble.

Check w/ you local cop shop. It is considered a weapon, and will be treated as such if you get pulled over. better to ask, since laws vary state to state.
