With regard to todays story about the muslim policeman asking for re-assignment,I have just seen an interview on CNN International with a member of the Black Police Officers Association. How can such an organization exist?
If there was a White Police Officers Association there would be riots in the streets.
How far can political correctness go?

Do you know what I thought exactly the same thing this morning, then I realised that there well could be a christian association, as this is directed more at religion rather than colour, but then there is a black association and a gay and lesbian association. Maybe it would be a good idea to get rid of all the types of associations so they could focus on doing there job protecting the public in a neutral manner.

BPOA has been around for years. Introduced to ensure that black officers were treated the same as the white officers. Equal rights, equal rates of pay etc etc. The problem is as a police officer he swore an oath not only to the queen and country but to serve the public need. You can't pick and choose when things start to get tough.
Do some of the muslims serving in the UK Armed Forces have a choice if they want to goto Iraq or Afghanistan I don't think so.

Sadly, if you've got a coloured face, you're beyond the law, and you can start up any group that you so wish, and no one is allowed to take offence. You must know of the Nation Of Islam, who were the scary groups of black people who stood outside the court whilst the Stephen Lawrence case was going on (or not so), who were hurling allsorts of racist abuse at the accused. If you actually look into them, they are a very racist group, no different from the NF or BNP...but they're black, so obviously no one turns a blind eye.

Today's story is an absolute disgrace! I'm sure many of our white police officers don't particularly agree in wife beating, child abuse or rape...but they *have* too attend the scene, because it's their job...and because they're strong and man enough to face their job.

Muslim's in the force was never going to work...but it's all about being seen to be fair...well now, fairness has gotten out of control.

I asked this question a long time ago, and the answer I got was this. The average police force is 95% white, and the rest is made up of ethnic minorities.
Being white, you've got the backup of 2-5000 other white males to look to if you're having a hard time and need help with something. Black cops don't. Simple as.

It's the same with everything. It's not enough to be equal; some people want to be special. We have such things as MOBO Awards and the like. By creating groups such as the Black Police Officers' Association we are singling one group of people out. If equivalent groups were established for white people, as you rightly pointed out, we'd never hear the end of it.

That's bull****
If there is unity at work than is in the Police and Correction, those guys will die for each other!
When it comes down to do sh*** then there is no time to think about racism, it's about taking bullet for the partner!

From the first day at the police academy and crawling through the mud they have helped each other and that is how it always will be...

I think it is there beacause there is alot of racism and a support group has been set up to tackle and deal with this if any black police officer experiences this.

You hear more racism with black people than you do with white

Black officers are still a minority in the force. Institutional racism is still a big problem and needs to be eliminated. Many Black and Asian youths are still being stopped for no reason purely on the basis of the colour of their skin.

PC is going right out the window, as police officers they should have no prejudice against anything, if they have then they're in the wrong job.
