chances are you know why they are calling you. So call. If it has something to do with what you have been avoiding, hang up with the sheriff. (yes you have a right to remain silent even over the phone) and call your lawyer. Don't have one? Retain one for 100bucks. they'll deal with whatever. Chances are though it's someting simple. like, your wallet was left at the porn shop again, or you didn't pay the guy at the gas pump. or maybe you have a letter that was sent to the police station (it happens I promise) because some one important couldn't locate you. million dumb reasons.

if you have a criminal record or have done something in the past or if you know of a crime you should move on for a bit.Leave the note where you found it. Do not move the note.Keep everything on the porch or the front yard untouched like nobody has gotten the notes at all. If there is nothing to worry about then go ahead and call the sheriff via cell phone or payphone. This is very strange and i would use caution

I would call the Sheriffs department using the number published in the telephone directory. If it is legitimate, they will know how to direct you. If it is not, they can use the number on the notice to attempt to find whoever left the notice.

Call the Sheriff, no questions asked... Unless of course, you have something to hide.
