Who decides whether a charge will be brought against a suspect? The police department or the complainant?
Let us say, for example, someone makes a complaint against another person for assault. The police investigate and decide to only issue the suspect with a warning. If the complainant wants the suspect charged, are they entitled to this, and if so how?

Long story short, I was stopped for something extremely minor (no ticket or anything) but the officer called me a "f***ing moron" and an "idiot" several times before telling me to take off. Are they allowed to talk that way to citizens? Do you think it is worth it to pursue this or should I just let it slide?

Several times now police have threaten to ticket me or other friends who are dropping someone off in a No Parking zone. When we pointed out that we were Standing, not parking, they got irate and said that it was the same thing. I KNOW I took drivers ed a long time ago, but I was sure those were 3 different things - No Standing, No Sitting and No Parking. I have seen signs that say No Parking No Standing, when that's what was intended. THANKS!

Hi there
I need some information, I did some thing wrong in wal mart and they called police then they charged me with trespass now I can`t go over there and all of the wal-marts for one whole year I came hear for less than 1 year and now I want to apply for job and college , just I will be appreciate if you give me some information about this matter the theft amount it was $5.00 and i have to tell you that I did`nt pay any fine ( maybe they did not charge me ) just i am so upset and i want to make sure about my records.

Actually she's not my girlfriend anymore, but I'm so used to calling her my girlfriend, that the word "ex" sounds so weird. I love her too much and I feel like the world is falling apart. How do they decide who works a crime/homicide? You have homicide detectives (Law and Order), Crime Scene Investigators (CSI), the FBI (Numb3rs), US Marshalls(US Marshalls), et al. On TV, they all basically do the same thing, but who does what in real life?

I got one of those "gotcha" tickets in the mail for pressing a stale yellow. I just paid it through the mail on time. Does this count as a "conviction" or is a conviction considered something a little bigger than a speeding or red light ticket.

went to school to pick up children, 1st stop high school, showed all legal paperwork about having joint custody and all, son not in school that day, so the school called middle school to warn them i was on way with legal papers, they interferred by calling sisternlaw to come get child b4 i got there, sisternlaw whom i have custodial interference papers on now, is this legal, what can i do about it, and can the school be charged for anything to maybe help someone else out that may go through this same thing i have, the other parent took them out of county to another school so really dont know what im dealing with there can anyone help, please?

My friend has to register as a sex offender in Michigan. He moved to Florida. Before he moved he was ticketed for possession of a 1/2 oz of marijuana. He did not go to curt. Now there is a warrant out for his arrest in Michigan. Will Michigan order to extradite him from Florida back to Michigan? What will happen then?
