As a former reporter, when I have talked to agents, most of them got their experience in local law enforcement. The agency is doing more recruiting at the high school and college level, these days.
While you could go to the career center at your high school, the resources may be lacking in this area. Your best solution would be to use the Net to get the information you. The FBI has a student Web page at
http://www.fbijobs.gov/2.asp
The page has info about recruiting as well as internship info and more. Hope this helps.

RE:
I'm in high school and want to eventually join the FBI... how can I do this?
Recently I've gotten into picking a major. I want to major in law/criminal investigation and work for the CNU for the FBI. I would love to be a part of the crisis negotiation unit, but I have a question. How can somebody get into the FBI? Just submit a resume or is there some other process? I...

You're not likely to get in with a standard highschool backround...unless you did some work with the CIA or something during lunch periods. Pick a college/university with a celebrated criminal justice program or at least internships with the FBI. Virginia Commonwealth University has such internships via their CJ program.
Your criminal history must be sterling....no misdemeanors, certainly no felonies, and no backround of hanging around with "the wrong people". There will be polygraph tests galore, not to mention psychological evaluations, aptitude tests and an array of other mental/physical challenges.....all before you get to step foot in Quantico.
Your degree is important and must be pertinent, your classes challenging and impressive and your grades excellent. Get to know people with connections (ie professors, as they tend to be affiliated somehow with agencies past or present) because a letter from an ex-agent turned professor will come in handy.
If you don't think you can muster this shiny resume, a commendable service in law enforcement agency will help, but degrees will end up being the most important. You want to give them a reason to have you, not just meet their minimum requirements.

Study Political Science as a major in college and take up Law later. With these courses, you will have a full grasp of law enforcement and government operations. Be physically fit and healthy by engaging in physical sports requiring agility and strength. Apply in the FBI Academy because it is the only entry point for becoming an agent.

My son is considering the FBI, he was a screw-off in high school. He joined the Navy, he was trained as an MA, he received college credit for this and is now going to college to earn his degree on the Navy, when he gets out, he will have the GI Bill and several years of experience plus his top secret clearance.
These are all things that count, and if you can't afford college, it is a viable alternative.

You will have to ask the FBI about those requirements but I can tell you that YOU must not be arrested for even minor things - AND - you have to pick and choose your friends carefully.
If any associates (friends and or regular aquaintences) are criminals it WILL reflect on you. And you WILL be investigated if you apply for any high security job where you will be in charge of sensitive information.

I would write a letter to the FBI and ask them what it would take. They may even have an intern program for college students. Their Human Resources department would be glad to help you out and put you on the right path.

Criminal law and forensics are good classes to take, but it depends which branch of the FBI you want to go into. My highschool offers both of those classes.
also maybe psychology or psych of the criminal mind
maek sure you have a computer course of some sort
advanced or AP Government
i donno, I'm in HS too but from what i know, i think those would be some good options.

Get good grades, go to college and talk to your high school guidance counselor about picking the right college and applying to the FBI for a job....good luck...and don't discredit the high school guidance counselor....they know what they're doing and this is their job!

Write the FBI Hedquarters to their recruitment section, and I'm sure they will give you all the details and requirements.
