I gave a letter of resignation and a notice, but heard through the grapevine that he'd told a customer that he'd 'let me go', insinuating I'd been fired. Now I find myself defending off small town gossip and am embarrassed and mad. I called my old boss' boss and left a message telling her what happened but have not heard anything. Do I have any recourse? (this is a big corporate chain) Should I even bother?

But it is unacceptable legally for them to get married without consent of their parents. Am I wrong about the law? If not what is the law. Also ethically it is okay or even encouraged to have sex at 16 but its not okay to settle down. What about the vulnerability at that age, pregnancy? STDs?

Does the Salvation Army really only give 25 % of money earned to people that need it. So every dollar you give only a quarter is used to help those in need.

Thats horrible someone please find the truth about this.

Ok so I worked at CVS since Aug. 2007 and this girl that got hired 10 days after me was paid more than when she started out 10 days after me. I just figured this out because we were talking about our annual raise that we got and I asked her how much she makes and I was told 7.25.
Then also I find out that she started out at 7.00 and I started out at 6.85 which is minimum wage in my state.
Me and this girl have the same job title which is service clerk so there is no need for the pay difference.
When I was hired in I asked how much us service clerks make and I was told minimum wage so I assumed that it wasnt possible to negotiate your pay.
Also to add to this story my friend that got hired after this girl also makes minimum wage.

So after all that I need help on what I should do in this situation. Should I seek legal help or should I go to the crappy union we have.

Thanks so much for your help

My mother passed away in 2002. Leaving behind some property she owned in Florida. We have kept the taxes current on it. (it is a vacant lot). Do I have to hire a lawyer to transfer this to my name? She left a will and everything left to me. So there will be no contesting of that. Just hate the cost of hiring a lawyer to do something that I'm sure I'm capable of doing.

Government ideas are mooted for banning prostitution. I'd like to know people's views. I have just four comments :

1. I doubt if the trade/ activity can be banned effectively. It's not the sort of thing you can stop completely. Better to regulate what you can't prevent ?

2. Nobody would condone the sex-slavery and human trafficking that often goes along with prostitution. But prostitution doesn't necessarily mean these things.

3. My guess would be that buying sex is rubbish in comparison with having sexual relations with someone you care about and are engaged with.

4. But isn't prostitution - or can't it be - just another application of the market - a voluntary transaction on fair terms ? Or are there reasons why it is never voluntary and always & inherently exploitative of women ?

Harriet Harman, who's mainly behind the mooted legislation, is a warm heart and a champion of women. But is she right on this one ? If prostitution ended, fine : yet to illegalise ?

I read on a site that made really interesting points about this question.

"Logically speaking, it should be the other way around. Alcohol tends to make many people aggressive, leading to a variety of violent crimes, while marijuana does not. Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, and leads to a serious loss of
coordination and motor skills. At larger doses, alcohol renders one completely unconscious. Drunk drivers cause enormous numbers of automobile accidents and deaths. Marijuana is not a central nervous system depressant, and while one probably shouldn't drive while intoxicated on anything, it simply does not cause anywhere near the loss of motor control that alcohol does, and is only a fraction as dangerous as alcohol in terms of driving. And, a large enough dose of alcohol can and will kill you, while the same is not true of marijuana."

For those of you who don't know, California is the only state in the US that is allowed to enact air pollution laws that are more stringent than federal standards. The Clean Air Act, however, requires California to get a waiver from the EPA before enacting such regulations.

California has obtained several such waivers over the last 30 years. Last week was the first time such a waiver was denied. California was trying to regulate carbon pollution. Actually, the EPA ignored the petition until California sued and a federal judge ordered the EPA to evaluate it. California has threatened to sue again over the denial.

I am interested in hearing what people think of this issue. Please note that I am NOT interested in your opinions on global warming or Kyoto Protocol or any of that stuff, only on the federalism issues.

I recently answered a question - on a subject I know quite a lot about - by telling the poster that no-one could sensibly answer her question without more facts. She responed by sending me a nasty email - to which I couldn't reply since she's blocked emails. Why are so many people online such cowards that they feel free to make ad hominem attacks on people who're trying to help, and then hide behind Yahoos mail blocks ?

I keep hearing about these thousands and thousands of Canadian’s that flock to US hospitals to get medical care. As foreigners they have no health insurance here and it costs many thousands of dollars a day to stay in an American hospital, here do they get all that money? Do they get a group rate at the border, or is this just more crap put out by the RNC? Finally as they have ne applicable insurance what financial security do they have to post before the hospital will admit them? Do they promise to leave a healthy kidney?

Also, his friends testified against him and he was sentenced to jail for a long time. He got released before 2001 on wrongful accusation after new DNA evidence. Who was he?

I'm in an on-line debate ("argument"). I was a TA in the Kent, Washington, Kentridge High School in the 90s. I taught English. When I was a TA, it was against the rules for students (or teachers) to bring Bibles onto the school grounds. I saw a kid from my church reading his Bible in study hall one day, but the cover was the Sunday funnies. I asked about it, and he told me he had to disguise the Bible or be expelled if caught with it. I then found out at church that the Minister of Music's son was caught on campus at his high school (Renton School District), and he was expelled. That case was something like "Renton, WA school board vs [ Jared / or John Bryant. Jared was the student, John was the parent, my friend. Does anyone know of any case law (cite) to back this up? I'm being called a liar, and I know Bibles were (I believe they still are) banned in many (all?) public schools in Washington state. Anyone have a cite?

I prosecuted a case like this, a woman claimed that she was charged at by a man with a bat. She gets in her car and drives several blocks, where she is stopped by the police. The Court refused to allow the caljic regarding necessity. She was convicted. I would think the best way to handle this is try and get a plea to a wet reckless or even a dry one.

Now, here he is leaving by himself, under the influence, and going......where? To the bus, did he call a cab? Is it unreasonable to believe that he planned to drive? How independent were the witnesses? Were they at the bar. Did they ever know the defendant? And why did the bat wild guys not go after the other three gay men?
