I was watching an episode of Law & Order and Iwas wondering :
If you are found guilty by a jury at a very narrow vote, and the person with the deciding vote was later convicted of a crime (say a murder) is that grounds for an appeal?

Coach Sharon Youngblood works as an athletic coach and recruiter for Florida State University. Athletic competitions and the recruitment of athletes require Sharon to do a great deal of traveling. The university reimburses Sharon for her travel expenses. Sharon joined a frequent flyer program and has been receiving credit for her business travels as an athletic coach. Soley because of the mileage accumulated from her business travels, Sharon will soon be eligible for a free trip anywhere in the continental United States. She very much wants to travel to Seattle, Washington, over her Christmas vacation to visit her parents. Sharon is considering using her free ticket for this personal trip but is not sure whether it would be ethical to do so.

What do you think? Should Sharon use her frequent flyer miles for the personal trip? Why or why not? If you were her employer, what would your position be?

I'm not a lawbreaker by any means. I don't speed, I buckle up, and I don't do any drugs whatsoever. I live in Massachusetts, and for those who don't know already, MA has issued a very tough penalty law on Junior Operaters (licensed teens under 18). The law I'm concerned about is the passenger restriction law. The law states that I cannot drive passengers under 18 for the first 6 months of my licensure.
My question is whether or not (I live on the border) I can drive my friends in New Hampshire (a dif. state) who are under 18. In other words, is the MA law applicable in NH? You know, like for a while how in NH they required you buckle up, but in MA you didn't?
I looked for NH laws on Junior (Youth) Operaters, and I'll look again, but your help is much appreciated. I do not wish to break any laws, but I do wish to know what is law and what is not.
Thanks.

On 8/28/07, I decided to purchase a Hunter Garage fan from Lowe's. Normally selling for 159.99, it was on sale online for 88.90. It wasn't available for purchase in store or online but was for special order. So I went into the store, placed the order and paid for it. 10 days later, I call to check on the status. They tell me it was never ordered. So I ask them to place the order again. 10 days later, I come into the store. They say its on "permanent buy back" meaning Hunter was buying all the fans back from Lowe's. They tell me the only option is to refund my money because they can't order anymore. But I paid for it before the buyback. Its now been 2 months since the initial order and they have called Hunter directly to order it that way rather than through Lowe's. They said to allow 24 hours to fax, and 2 weeks to get the fan. Its been nearly 3 weeks. What other actions can I take to get this resolved? I know there's a legal term for offering at one price, and not providing it. Help!

I was at a bar enjoying happy hour with some friends. I had a bouncer approach me and tell me, "sorry, but... we have a policy against wearing plain white t shirts... please but your coat on or you'll have to leave. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. It was hot in the bar and I didn't want to put my coat on and look like an idiot. I ended up putting on a friends vest to avoid a scene. Could he have phsycally carried me out of the bar for wearing a white T??

Does the Full faith and credit clause get rid of the use of colalteral attacks and direct attacks? Ares special apperances still valid? I am reading Rule 12 B (2) that gets rid of special appeearances (because you can automatically raise jursidiction issues).. does this apply to federal cases only or state cases as well?

And I don't mean is that correct, because it is. What I mean is; is that justice? Blaming the victim by making them partially culpable is akin to blaming a murder victim for getting in the way of the bullet or the knife.
And you expect civilized nations to follow sharia law? Don't hold your breath.

I had twins when I was 18. When they were 1.5 years old my mother was given legal custody while I got on my feet. My children moved back in with me full time when they were 6. For the past 9 years I have provided 100% financial support and care. Kids are 15 now. We live in Lucas County Ohio & my mother, who is still technically legal custodian, lives in Arizona.

Through all these years Lucas County CSEA has continued to charge me for child support. They are aware that the children live with me full time & I am supporting them. My mother's attorney has also substantiated my claims. The CSEA caseworkers have told me for years that the only way they will stop charging me for support is when I get legal custody. They are going to garnish my wages now.

I have paid for all the years that I wasn't supporting my children directly. The money CSEA is taking from me now is being taken from my children. Is there any way to not be charged child support without having legal custody?

We bought property owned by grandfather(died in 1990) and dad had paid equal share to both of his brothers long time back and got their signature on a sheet of paper mentioning that they got their equal share (total sum divided 3). But now they are not willing to sign on the bond paper and also fathers sister's are asking about the share. They are total 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Previously sisters said they dont want any share and dad paid equal sum to both the brothers now noone is willing to sign the papers and there fore the property is still on grandpa's name we are living there since 20 years. No one claimed anything before but now when we asked them to sign they want share. Can we transfer the property on my fathers name without there signature or do we want everyone's(including sister's) signature. Please advice

As an attorney, if you call upon the services of a stenographer to record your minutes as you represent a client in, say, a ZBA hearing or the like, are you the attorney responsible for paying the stenographer or is your client responsible?
Part two of the question, if no arrangements are made otherwise, is it assumed that common payment practices are in place, i.e., payment due at time of delivery of transcript or within a reasonable time after receiving a bill for same, (say 30 - 45 days)
