I've fought a traffic violation before successfully - simply due to circumstances beyond my control. I wasn't trying to "get out of it" or anything, just trying to make them understand why it happened.
Just explain what happened, nothing more. Relax, they're human too and will probably accept a reasonable explanation.

Fight it! No matter what when you go to court the cop never shows up to fight against you. Just go there explain what happened..and they will either make you pay half of the ticket or nothing at all.
You have a better chance of not paying anything if this in your first offense

Your choice. If you go to court and the officer shows up, you will pay the fine plus court costs. Guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend. Maintenance on a vehicle is your responsibility.

It was ur responsibility to check the brakes of your car before u use it. Law is same for all, so u should pay for it.
