Most affidavits are filed under penalty of perjury -- so any perjury laws would apply.

Also, a false affidavit in support of a motion is usually grounds for denying a motion -- or ruling against a party in the lawsuit.

Making an affidavit is the equivalent of testimony in a court of law. You could be subject to perjury, which could mean jail time or a fine. If you are submitting the affidavit to a financial institution, you may be in further violation of the law for purposefully making false statements to a financial institution. I have attached an article explaining more about affidavits.
