I just moved, but kept my old address. It's the same house and the mailbox is the same. I changed my utilities and that's all. My driver's license is the same, my address is the same. BUT now I'm getting mail address to the new address when I have nothing saying it's my new address. My utility company told me that they did not give my new address to anyone. The only other person to have this "new" address is the 9-1-1 dispatcher and they told me they do not sell addresses. So how did my new address get to these advertisements???

How is this "new" address public record anyway??

I have recently applied for a job that a background check is going to be conducted before hiring. I know that there are things that are going to show up that might keep me from getting the job. Should I let the employer know upfront what to expect or wait until the report comes back?

I was walking inside from my hotel's pool when I slipped in some water and fell. I know, I should expect water to be around the pool, but the ground around the pool is a smooth surface. Aren't they usually textured for traction to prevent slipping? Or, if they want to have a smooth surface, shouldn't there be someone mopping up any potentially hazardous puddles? I know I'm not just clumsy because as we were waiting for the ambulance, another girl slipped and fell in the exact spot that I did. The hotel was nice enough to call the ambulance for me, but failed to offer to pay for any hospital bills. I ended up spraining my left ankle and left wrist. I'm left-handed and work in an operating room, therefore I'm pretty useless at work. I tried going in today but left early due to my injuries. Should I try to take legal action?

Back when I had male internet friends, I came across one guy who seemed to be very needy and would rely on females to pay for him to come visit and give him cash. I didn't fully put the pieces together until later, but he was able to convince me to loan him $326 ($300 cash & 26 for the wire), and I wrote up a loan agreement that he would pay me back, and he applied an electronic signature (which he told me was his-it wasn't). He gave me a song & dance that he was going hungry and that he had nothing to eat in his apartment. He was in Florida (good guess), and me in Texas. I have considered contacting the FBI, as I finally figured that this guy scams women all the time for free trips and money. He has a fake internet name, but I found his legal name. Still have his website.
What do you suggest? I've felt guilty that he continues with his scamming...What do you suggest? Doesn't he need to be stopped? Gone on long enough!? 100107 6:30

I live in a dangerous neighborhood, and I've been mugged twice very recently. I simply can't walk 2 blocks outside of my house without facing such dangers. I'm seriously thinking about carrying a bat with me everywhere I go. Would anyone recommend any other ways I can protect myself in these situations or not get involved at all?

a warrant. This occured at night. On the video taped footage, the police officers arrested him because they said they saw him throw something out of the passenger side window which the driver denied(no mention of the warrant). The other officer went to pick up the "item " that was allegedly tossed.None of this particular action was seen except the 2nd officer putting something(drugs)on the trunk of car(end video tape).Long story short, relative went to trial was found guilty of "possession with intent to dist".Given 15 yrs sentence and to serve 10 of those. My thing is the officer said that he was stopped for a warrant which the defending attorney didnt ask to see.A couple of days After sentencing, we went 2 our county courthouse for a transcript of the trial. When questioned about a copy of the said warrant ,the warrant could not be found. So from my point of view it appears he was unjustly pulled over and "searched" and his rights violated.am i right and now what is the next steps to take

We are a small business under ten employees and have always punched in and out on a time card. Recently the owner is looking into software that clocks one in and out using ones fingerprint. This information is on an unsecure server that has internet access through a DSL line. Is this an infringement of civil liberties and do you have to submit to your finger print being on file with your employer for the purpose of keeping time?

Lets say a minor goes into a contract of buying a number of furniture. After making several payments the minor defaulted and disaffirmed his contract, and allowed the company to remove the furniture. However they refused to return the money that the minor had already paid. Should the minor be able to recover these payments? Why or why not. Looking for legitimate law oriented answers.

So let's say you live in Maryland and the age of sexual consent is 16 years old.

Does that mean, if you're 15 years old.. and you have sex with another 15 year old... it's ILLEGAL?
Could you go to jail?

Or scenario 2
You're 15 and have sex with someone who's 17?
is that illegal?

No, I'm not thinking about having sex but it's something I was wondering for a while and I'd like it if someone cleared that up with me, thanks.
