The time to be honest was when he told you there would be a background check. Now I would let him come to you if he has a problem with it, and you can say you didn't think it was a big deal since it was in the past, and you have moved on for the better.

well sometimes it matters but others don't. If you have good reasons why those things shouldn't be in your record they might consider hiring you. On the other hand some employers don't even want to bother on what you have to say whatever the report says that's what they work with to make the decision!

Your best bet would be to let the employer know what to expect. Otherwise he/she might think you're hiding something and that's never a good way to start. on the other hand if you do tell them then they would respect your honesty this might go a long way towards them overlooking your past mistakes. .

save him the time and money and be upfront. Explain the situation and what happened as a result. I still got hired, probably for being upfront. You can explain it better than a paper can from the courthouse.

Hopefully they are not that bad but yeah, honesty is ALWAYS the best bet. Chances are they are going to ask you after they get the results, just let them know.

As long as you answered all the questions on your application fully and truthfully, you should be okay. If there were questions on the application about prior arrests or convictions. and you didn't answer fully or truthfully, then you will have a problem.

You should definitely tell your potential employer about anything that has not been expunged/sealed. If you do not and it comes up later you can be terminated.
