No one was in our dorm room when the RA (not ours) entered and found 4 empty beer bottles. He said he was looking for the TV that was taken from the Common area. We have a 48 flat screen of our own so we do not need theirs. Why our room was chosen is unknown. The four of us are on the football team (I think that was the reason). The RA said he came in at 8:00 p.m., but we didn't leave the dorm room until 10:30 p.m. so he is lying. We feel he had no just cause for entering our room when we were not there. The bottom line is we are now suspended from the team for having empty beer bottles in our room. No one saw us drink them and we never cause any disturbances in our dorm. Yes, we do know that alcohol/drugs are not allowed on campus. Do we have a legal leg to stand on? The college keeps flip/flopping back and forth. Today, they said they our writing us up and we are now suspended. The RA is not being reprimanded at all.

I won a boat motor off this guy's auction about a month ago. I sent him nearly $700 for the motor and shipping in the form of a personal check (I know, not very smart, but Paypal wouldn't work for some reason)
Anyways, he claims he shipped the motor but won't give me any tracking information or information on who he shipped through.
Now, I can't get ahold of this guy and he has my money and the motor.
Can anyone provide me information on how to get my money back?
I'm not sure about state laws, but I'm in Michigan and he is in Massachusetts.
I figure I may have to sue him to get the money back, but what kind of proof will I need?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Will I be subject to a pre-employment drug test if:

1) I have received a job offer from a small private firm in Virginia. I have received an offer letter as well as an employment agreement. There is no mention of any drug test etc in either document.
2) Can they test me on the first day of work?
3) Do I have to sign something that explicitly states their drug testing policy before they can ask me to take a test?
4) How can I ask them about their drug testing policy without sounding like I am a user and therefore jeopardizing their perception of me?
note: Please do not answer to preach to me about the merits of being drug free. I have scored a near perfect score on advanced level standardized tests "under the influence" of marijuana and since this is an academic job (and does not entail operation of heavy machinery), my use will not limit me at all. I enjoy it and I feel that drug testing is a gross invasion of privacy.

Thanks

Hello, anyone with legal education/experience, please help!!!! Is it legal for an excutor of a will to ration out the money as opposed to giving it in a lump sum? The excutor is seemingly doing it to help the person manage their money, but, assuming this is NOT a stipulation in the will, is this legal? Please help!

Suppose I am in my car following right behind a truck for approx. 30 miles. The truck is driving 85MPH in a 65MPH zone. A state trooper pulls me over for speeding, but he doesn't pull the truck over and instead lets that driver keep going. I was just following the truck and obviously the truck was the first person to break the law (I was just following), but the officer doesn't charge the truck driver with a crime. Do you think the officer is just being a racist? Why didn't he catch the truck? If he let the truck go, then he should have let me go too! If not, that's discrimination.

This type of thing happens all the time, why do you think the cops would just selectively pull people over??

This is going to sound strange, but my college tutor caught me using cocaine in college today. She was angry at me and told me to meet her at her office at 8 in the morning to speak with her and other staff. I'm not a trouble maker at all, I've only been using it because I've been struggling to handle long hours at my job which left me exausted at college, so it was affecting my results in class. I was told it would be a good 'pick me up'. Can I get thrown out for this? I'm very worried.

Hope someone can clarify this for me. My DH has just handed his notice in at work as he has a new job. His contract says notice is 'subject to the minimum requirements of section 86 of Employment rights act 1996.So as I see this he only needs to give 1 weeks notice? However, I said that is not fair to the company and he should give them 4 weeks, which he did. Now his boss says he should give 1 months notice, so I said to DH you did, but his boss expected him to put in 31 days notice? I've told DH his boss has misunderstood and the normal expectation for '1 month' is 4 weeks/28 days. Please tell me i'm right

and you dont know if he is armed or not an you shoot and it kills him, did you do the wrong thing?

I am posting this because I answered this question and I got negative responses for suggesting that you shoot the guy,

I am NOT saying that shooting an unarmed person is ok because its not,

but you have to protect yourself and family, it's not like he is breaking in to borrow sugar

if answering please give your thoughts in detail
not write only 'it's wrong'
thanks

I live in Georgia first off so if anyone knows Georgia law please help!

My brother and his bonehead girlfriend are having a baby. Its not born yet but my mom has a feeling that her and my dad are going to have to sue for custody.

Little back story, the girl he's with has "almost" been married. She had a ceremony but apparently (I say apparentley because we don't know for sure) he was already married so it didn't stick. She moved onto another guy, had a kid with him, something happened (trying to find out the truth is like pulling teeth with her) and she doesn't have custody. Neither does the father. She won't tell us whether his parents have custody or if she's in foster care. This girl has a pattern. Latch onto someone that either has money or has access to it (my parents have money that she thinks she's entitled to), get pregnant and then do something to weasel that money out and then move onto the next victim leaving the kid behind without a thought.

For Example: I have a Restraining Order against my Ex. At the hearing he wanted to tell me something in front of the judge to me but the judge wouldn't let him. I got the vibe that he wanted to say he was sorry. I've know him for over 3 yrs, so I really do believe that this is the case. I know he can not contact me in anyway, but does that include ME not being able to atleast say good bye to him in say an email or letter.

My ex roomate and I moved in to a place aug 1st. I paid $650 of the deposit and she paid $100, with the agreement she would pay me back. She soon lost her job, but found a pt one, paying min. wage. She was unable to pay her 2nd months rent in full on the first. 2 weeks later the landlord told me it was still unpaid, the total with the late fee was $140. I paid it because I wanted it taken care of. My roomate and I had other problems too, and I called her and said one of us needs to move out. Since she had virtually no income , she said she would. I said she could have 30 days , but she said no, that she would be out on the 20th of that month, which she was. Most of her belongings are still here. She will not answer my calls, texts or emails. I have moved her stuff to the screened in porch, since I have a new person moving in. I want her stuff gone , and the money she owes me for past bills and such. What should I do?
