It would be best in this crooked day and age, a good lawyer might get him off, or get it scrubed from his record for doing community service. They sometimes allow that some places.
Also in the future let him smoke at home where its safe! Unless this happened in your house, then this is your fault for not standing up for whats right, and just, and teaching your children the difference between truth and the governments lies, your smart enough to pose questions on yahoo, do some research on pot and see why its illegal, and how bad it really is for you, knowledge is power.
The truth is plainly out there for anyone who wants to know, the war on drugs has been a mockery of our rights from day one.
Pot is the most sacred, harmless, substance humans injest to this day. It also is healthy both physically and mentally and is good for alleviating some symptoms of disease

If he lives in Calif. possession of less than an ounce of Pot is just a fine providing he's not charged with sales. If other states check with your state laws. If he's charged with a felony get an attorney.

Yes! Can mean difference between jail or a little community service. Can mean difference between misdemeanor or felony. A lawyer knows the local judges, knows the D.A., knows how to bargain down the sentence (or get him off).
Have son wear suit & tie (or very best clothes) to Court, shave, hair cut, and act contrite.

Absolutely. The attorney may be able to get him out of the charges, get the charges reduced and/or get him a light sentence.

Depends on the amount of pot. HE may need an attorney. Time to cut the apron strings and let him pay his way since he is an adult.

Depends. If you want to just admit to the crime and plead guilty then not really. The Judge might ask you to though. That way they are sure you fully understand the charges against you.
