I won a boat motor off this guy's auction about a month ago. I sent him nearly $700 for the motor and shipping in the form of a personal check (I know, not very smart, but Paypal wouldn't work for some reason)
Anyways, he claims he shipped the motor but won't give me any tracking information or information on who he shipped through.
Now, I can't get ahold of this guy and he has my money and the motor.
Can anyone provide me information on how to get my money back?
I'm not sure about state laws, but I'm in Michigan and he is in Massachusetts.
I figure I may have to sue him to get the money back, but what kind of proof will I need?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Contact E bay and tell them your problem.. Always use Paypal it is very safe and you have a printable reciept of your transaction. Did you check out the sellers feedback score?

You need to file a claim. And do it NOW. If this was a month ago, your time is running out. I have contacted the state before in eBay matters and they rarely get involved. Go delve into the help pages concerning this issue on eBay and learn how to get your money back. But if wait, you lose.

File an Item Not Received dispute.
You will have one heck of a time getting your money back since you paid with a check, though.
Has he cashed it yet? Call your bank and see it there's anything they can do for you.
And you can report him for mail fraud, too.

report it on ebay, i think if you go on my ebay, under items won, on the right if you click on the box that says pay noe etc it should come up with something like report item not recieved, make sure you have copies of all emails sent and they should sort it out for you
good luck and hope you get your money back!
