Law & Ethics - August 2007

I have a question. Today I did a horrible thing. I stole from walmart. worth 60 dollars worth. I wasn't arrested but I did recieve a citation. I have to contac thte number on the citation within 10 days. I am so depressed. I can't believe I was so dumb. I have never done anythi gbad and lately I have had this problem. I am bipolar and I am not excusing it but I think I have a problem. I am going to talk to my therapist about it. I am not glad I got caught but then I am glad because now I know I won't ever do it again. It scared me shitless. I think that it happened for a reason. Cuz I could of done it more and gotten in more trouble. Anyways, they put down that I stole under 50 bucks. I think they let me off easy because the whole time I was crying and I am a overall good person. I was truthful and I just did everything they told me to. I know this is horrible but I am not a bad person so please don't judge me. I just need to knwo if this is somethin that will be on my record forever.

I want to know if my kids father can obtain any information about our children. I am the one who has custody of them. he did not sign his name to the birth certificate. So there for there is not any proof that he is the father of our kids. Can he obtain any information about them with out my permission.

A neighbor of my freind walked my dog, on a leash around her yard then put my dog in the fenced in area with her dog. Her dog attacked mine biting off part of her ear. Surgery and six hundred dollars later; I took her to small claims court for failure to pay the total amount she promised to pay. She made a verbal contract that night to pay the vet bill. She paid amost half then stopped. No response to my communication etc. Verbal contacts have three parts. An offer, acceptanceand consideration. The judge said it was a gratuitous gesture not a contract. She offered to pay the bill, I accepted,she made payments (consideration). How is that not a verbal contract? I won. The award was one half the bill! Thirty more dollars. Any rational for this verdict? Not to mention the news with all the recent dog attack injuries and deaths; where is the accountabilty? Thank you.

Lets say we gave in and did negotiate with them. What would they ask for that would completely satisfly them and make them stop wanting to kill. I really have no idea what their needs or wants are. Please help.

This would concern the criminal behavior of local officials in law enforcement and nobody in local government wants to touch it, including the local prosecutor. I think they are all scared of reprisals. So how do I get this to a grand jury?

And I don't mean the ones that are innocent until proven guilty. I'm talking about the ones that obviously committed a crime and lawyers are trying to help them out. I think the lawyers are just as bad as the criminals.

i was a witness to a fight which eventually turned into the muder in the neighbourhood where i lived i came forward with what i saw i was relocated in the witness protection program then i was told i would have to sign out because my husband isn't legal in the country anyways now im being told that i will have to testify i don't want to but i also don't want to go to jail i have 2 small children. I was trying to do the right thing but now i feel like the system is letting me down i have to get up in court to testify in front of these guys cause they have the right to see who is testifing against them but i don't have the right to shield my face because i don;t want to be known to them. is there anything i can do like not testifying and not breaking the law where i don't have to go to jail?

me and my friend have a watercraft license i'am23 he's 15 we just came back 2 minutes late after curfew but i was on the tube (I'am23)my friend was driving he's 15 so the police wrote me up for"allowing juvenile after curfew" even dah i was just on the tube can he do that by the way i wasn't going to give the licesne to the officer cause i knew he would write me a ticket i wasn't even driving !!!!!! and he didn't give him anything !!

I want to know if I am still able to collect my winnings from a SUper Lotto Jackpot if I wont it... even if later it was found out I got my winning ticket by driving to the store with a suspended license. Would that be a problem for me? Or is that just heresy, or do you think the State would try and sue me? What do you think?

a transit authority because the auto you traded in was being driven through toll roads without paying? Large fines I might add of $25 for each time the driver skips paying the toll as many as 6 times per day. I called the dealership and they said they would send papers to help clear it all with the authority but I must say I am not happy. Comments?

Sexual harassment is a big deal, Company "X" says, you can't touch and you can't look regardless. Your intentions may mean one thing, but your EYES say something else? sounds to me like Fahrenheit 451 (1966) Or and religious cult owned company.
So how much weight does this carry in court? What man doesn't like to look at a woman? But company X say's makes no difference! YOU LOOK, YOU GO TO COURT! PERIOD!
Guilty until prove innocent, Ya think? And I'm not a sexual predator thank you!
So at company X, I now look at the ground when I talk to fellow employees and customers. This rule at company X applies to ALL employees. Your EYES can NOT WONDER while in conversation!

i was wondering if a contract is void if you mispell a very important word. say for instance i was suipposed to gain controll of a house, but the word house was spelled wrong. would the contract be null or void?

i have a friend who is a foster mother to both eight month and three month old babies..there's apparent favoritism in which case she treats the eight month old significantly different from the 3 month old. (i guess the older one looks like her ex boyfriend and so on..) she constantly leaves her foster babies with her 15 year old daughter who has obvious freedom issues. she also drops off the three month old baby with unauthorized adults. i've come to love these children with all of my heart and realize that this isn't the foster mother for either of them. my sister works for the state and would love to have these children as her own. How would i go about having these children taken?
