Yes, DeeLee. Marijuana does impale judgment, but so does every other drug.

Because it isn't profitable. Any idiot can grow marijuana in their closet. Alcohol and tobacco products are more difficult to make and easy to tax, so they are legal.

Marijuana was legal and grown in America until the 1930's. During that time, the US Government had to deal with the effects of the depression, and blamed marijuana on Mexicans. A conservative push followed to outlaw it, and classify it as very bad.

True stuff!

Side note, hemp was used to make rope for the US Navy until WWII, when Dupont created synthetic materials for rope.

Same reason DDT is illegal. Some Idealist had an unproven idea about it and got alot of support making it into law.

Just think of all the people in third world countries that would not die of malaria if we used DDT to kill the mosquito's.

Just like think of the people who suffer from chronic incurable pain who could benefit fro Marijuana.

Personal responsibility should be the law.

Watch Refer Madness sometime. It is an onld film from the 50's about the dangers of Marijuana. It is so full of misinformation and blatent lies that it is campy and funny now. They saw it as truth when it came out.

It's illegal because we've let our government get out of control. You'd be surprised how many other stupid things are illegal that shouldn't be.

I'm voting to get the government out of my business, that's why I"m voting for Ron Paul. Every other candidate (repub or dem) wants to expand regulations and criminalize everything, the opposite of what this country needs. Luckily it's still legal to have dissenting opinions than our brilliant leaders, we should take advantage of it while we can and try and get things changed :)

Because marijuana growers don't have a lobbyist. It's considered a "gateway drug" that they can't regulate. If they legalized it, and collected taxes on it, everyone would be much happier.

Because Congress decided to make it illegal.

Based, probably, on medical studies from decades ago -- but more likely just because it was a drug and Congress could outlaw it so they did.

I have been told that the government cannot tax it; the main reason why it is illegal.
