My sister was dating a guy on and off for multiple years. While they were off, she got pregnant (different guy). They got back together before she had the baby (yes he kew it wasn't his)his parents wanted a DNA test to prove that the baby wasn't BF's. So got tested came back neg. After about a couple years, once again on and off. They, a few years later break up for good. She moves out w/child and lives her life. 6 months later his parents file for visitation rights. Is this for real? They aren't even related to the child ie.. DNA test proved it and the X-BF and my sis never married. Can the truely get visitation rights.

My mom tried to kill herself, again. The hospital let her go, again. She has a history of nervous breakdowns, mental health "issues" and violent behavior. She fakes horrible things just for attention. She plays the Drs. & they keep letting her go. In WI u can't commit someone against their will and she refuses to get help. I have been dealin w/this for 20yrs. & can't handle it anymore! I have kids of my own that I need to protect and care for. My sisters disappear whenever mom has an episode leaving me to deal w/her. But then the criticize the way things r handled. I want out! I put in my time now it's their turn to step up and do something! I want to file the order and live in peace!

I applied for a job advertised at £27,540 per annum. I was successful at interview and accepted the job. Two days before I started my new line manager contacted me regarding start date/time and mentioned the salary was only payable after 6 months and until then I would be "on a significantly lower rate" Is there anything I can do about this and is it lawful? I have resigned my current post and feel I cannot argue too much for fear of losing this job before it has begun. This different salary was never mentioned in the written papers nor at the job interview. What should I do?

I loaned my father-in-law a few hundred dollars, and now he refuses to pay me back. (Please don't tell me I should've known better, I knew that from the beginning but he's family and I felt obligated)

He is on welfare and disabilty, but he also gets section 8, so he has a decent income for someone in his situation. On top of that, his parents help him out.

Would I have a case if I took him to small claims court?
We live in California.

It seems to have escaped many English people's knowledge that the ban is fully implemented with great success in every other country within the UK.

I am a smoker and last March I was banging on about my right to smoke and how the approaching ban was an infringment of my human rights and all the rest of it.

16 months later I can quite honestly say the ban has been a good thing.

When I do go the pub I smoke less, I don't come home absolutly stinking, I can breath easy. Imagine what it is like for a non smoker to sit amongst all that smoke if thats how it made me, a smoker feel!

There has been no direct link to pubs shutting down and the ban coming in. Yes people will quote you figures of all the pubs that have closed in the pasy yeay but it actuall isn't any more than a pre ban year sees.

The only places that have suffered are Bingo halls as people are obviously to addicted to bingo and f@gs to give one up!

So embrace the change, you might just like it!

A good friend of mine rents a house. Her mailbox gets bashed in by some neighborhood kids and is irreparable. She calls her landlord and he tells her that it's her responsibility to replace it. This woman is disabled & living on a fixed income. IS she responsible for the replacement, or is her landlord just being an ***?

I been avoiding getting served by a credit card company that hooked up with a collection agency that has a attorney. They came to my house and got no answer. They finally taped the documents on my door and sent a certified letter. I didn't sign, a relative of mine did. So I wasn't actually served. I figure now I minus well go to court and set up installments/arrangements to pay a month so I won't have to appear in court. I want to ask since they didn't serve me directly would that be faulty on their part for not doing their job because who's to say I got it. It's their job to get it to me not give it to anyone in their crooked way to get money? I been harrassed, bullied, didn't they get the message that I wasn't coming to the door? They want all their money so I guess setting up arrangements will be better but I wonder is there a way to get out of this and if I don't set up arrangements what will happen? I owe under 2,000, not a lot but can't pay in full. Advice appreciated. I'm 23.

And i have now found out that he has been telling people at his place of work (also where one of my family members work) about everything, and trying to tell them to tell my girlfriend, Altho she already knows. I would like to know how much you would charge to sen! d a letter to him demanding that he take down the blog and stop slandering me, or he will be taken to court on charges of (to what i know of law) Slander and/or invasion of privacy.Thank You.

I have recently returned to work after having my son. I work 19 hours a week for the local council run library. I have adequte childcare organised for the hours I am contracted to work.

Today I was TOLD I had to attend a branch meeting next Thursday, my day off. I said I would be able to attend as long as my son was able to come along with you.

Now this might sound bizzare but I used to only work Saturdays in another branch and I seen people actually bring their kids to work and I was always allowed to take my son along to meetings. They seem to bend the rules when it suits them.

Anyway, the area manager said that I couldn't bring him along (the meeting is only 1 hour long and pretting informal with only 4 people) and I was obliged to go to the meeting. We had a bit of a stale mate and it has been rescheduled for a day I am working, meaning someone else has to come in on their day off.

I made a purchase because the item was listed for a very low price. My order was then voided because they claim their system had an error. When I contacted the company regarding this, they said they could not honor the first price because of the system error, I'd have to order again, this time at the new--$250 higher--price. I have my receipt from the first order showing the initial price. Can they charge me more even though none of this was my fault?

Which starts on 1st July. personally im looking forward to it for health reasons. But this also makes me believe that this will not be policed properly, Just like the Mobile-phone talking while driving because i have even seen police using their phone while driving. I just hope people are sensible about this because my attitude is if you can go without a cigarette on a long haul flight (say 9 hours approx) then you should be able to give up completely. Admitally i do not smoke so it's easy for me to comment. What do you think?

I was just looking at something which had "proof of purchase" written on it. I'm sure I've seen many such products. Why would they even bother writing that on it? How can something be a "proof of purchase" if the customer has never actually purchased it?

I know someone who writes a blog that analyzes various companies in a certain field, and writes on their business practices in his blog.
Several months ago he had posted some information, which he later learned to be false, about a company. He did not post this information with any malicious intent.
Within a few days of searching, he found out that this information was incorrect, and immediately retracted his earlier statement, and apologized. He has since made it clear in several posts that the information contained in that posting was false.
So far he has yet to hear from that company, but he's very concerned that he could be sued for libel or defamation.
(The false statements he posted weren't actually very damaging to the company; they just contained incorrect data that could have reflected poorly on the company. This kind of thing happens to reporters periodically and they usually don't get sued.) Should he be worried? What else could he do about this?
