I was just looking at something which had "proof of purchase" written on it. I'm sure I've seen many such products. Why would they even bother writing that on it? How can something be a "proof of purchase" if the customer has never actually purchased it?

Hey. Enough of the crap answers. I'm not thinking of stealing anything. Notice I used the word "you", not "I".
I'm also not talking about morality here.
I'm talking pure legality.
It's jumping the gun to put something that says "proof of purchase" before the item is actually purchased.
