A good friend of mine rents a house. Her mailbox gets bashed in by some neighborhood kids and is irreparable. She calls her landlord and he tells her that it's her responsibility to replace it. This woman is disabled & living on a fixed income. IS she responsible for the replacement, or is her landlord just being an ***?

call legal aid and call the postmaster, the postmaster can tell you who is responsible for the mailbox.

I'm not that educated in law but in Texas it's landlord's responsibility. Esp. if she's disabled that needs to be taken into consideration as well. Sounds like her landlord is a real horse's butt. Since she is RENTING it's only logical that it's the landlord's job. If she owned the house it would her job but she doesn't. Go to court if you have too b/c that's crap~

That would depend on the lease. Since the damage is beyond "normal wear and tear", she is likely responsible for repairing the mailbox.

Maybe - it all depends on her lease - generally a mailbox is the Landlord's responsibility. Again, she must look at her lease.

she needs a small camera to catch the kids or get a neighbor to tape them, then the kids and their parents are the ones responsible, the landlord or your friend are definitely not the ones that need to pay for it!

Yes she is responsible.

Why don't you be a good friend and fix it for her?
