3 months ago, a guy told me he had friends in Europe and would offer him a place to stay so he would travel there. He said he needed a break and would like to take time off to travel. I thought he was talking about vacation. Later he really went to Europe and traveled for one month. During that month, I saw his mail box receiving State unemployment benefits paychecks weekly. After he came back from Europe, he just stayed home. Obviously, he had the intention to quit the job voluntarily. It might be possible to ask his employer to fire him but chance is rare. Is it illegal to earn unemployment benefits in his case? Where and how can I report?

Taking a cue from the “Wash Me” messages scrawled on the back of delivery trucks, graffiti artists seek out soot covered surfaces and inscribe them with images, tags, and even advertising slogans using scrub brushes and pressure hoses. § 10-117. Defacement of property, possession, sale and display of aerosol spray paint cans, [and] broad tipped markers and etching acid prohibited in certain instances.

a. No person shall write, paint or draw any inscription, figure or mark of any type on any public or private building or other structure or any other real or personal property owned, operated or maintained by a public benefit corporation, the city of New York or any agency or instrumentality thereof or by any person, firm, or corporation, or any personal property maintained
on a city street or other city-owned property pursuant to a franchise, concession or revocable consent granted by the city, unless the express permission of the owner or operator of the property has been obtained.

Or rather, what is in it for them? Why would they allow frivolous lawsuits or bogus cases any consideration? I understand a lawyer might defend clients for the paycheck or recognition for winning an absurd case. I can see how a plaintiff or defendant would like to cash in on or weasel through a loophole, but what exactly does the judge have to gain?
I can’t imagine it would be a shining career move to decide McDonald’s coffee is so hot that it warrants millions to a clumsy individual. Perhaps a jury decided on this case. I don’t remember. For that matter, are jurors selectively bred and chosen for their deranged rationale?
There are numerous cases to cite examples from: the thief who sues the homeowner for injuries sustained while breaking and entering, the drug trafficker who is pardoned and apologized to because of improper arrest procedures, or how about the killer who is released because they claimed insanity. Couldn’t we reason this defense for all crimes? Of course they’re insane, they senselessly murdered someone!
Our laws are open to far too much interpretation, and it seems that too many people exploit this.
That is probably enough ranting for one question. Consider all but the title question rhetorical if you like.
What is in it for the judge?

everyone keeps saying illegal is illegal, and breaking the law is breaking the law. My wife came here illegally.....broke the law. she does not drive, she works pays her taxes via tax id number. we are expecting our 2nd child, both who will be Americans. As far as I can tell the only law that she has broken is coming here. how many of us can say that? I can honestly say i can not. so should she be punished for obeying every other law with the exception of one. I just wonder if breaking the law and the penalties that come with them should be applied to Americans. Do we send in the money for the ticket that we did not get for speeding because we did not get caught? it is still illegal, and is breaking the law. I have filed but it is all in the balance of geeze "the government" i know i will get alot of hate mail for this one, but illegal is illegal as we like to state here. let me know what you think. So shuld she be punished and what should it be?

Currentlly, my granddaughter lives with me. She just turned a year old. My daughter no longer lives at my house and goes weeks sometimes even months without seeing her daughter. I think that she is doing drugs and that she has a warrant for her arrest. I do not want her to show up one day and want to take my grandchild because I am afraid for my grandchilds safety. Is there anything I can do to get full custody of my grandchild?

It can be argued habeas corpus is crucial to ensure that the government's detention power is exercised wisely, lawfully, and in keeping with American values. I don't see any basis for trusting the Bush administration to respect the Constitution.

I signed up thru this program that had 8 weeks free. They charged me 4 weeks into my "membership". I signed the contract for that and i understand the technicality but i did have a cuopon for 8 weeks free. I got two 1/2 hour sesions of personal training where the trainer asked me if i wanted to buy 16 or so sessions for like $700. I said i'd think about it. b4 our 2nd session i called her and told her i had decided not 2 get the personal training. When i actually went in for my session i was put in a room and hasseled by some other lady telling me i wasent gonn abe able 2 do it alone and if i couldnt afford it outta pocket to put it on a credit card meanwhile the trainer was sitting in a corner of the room with her arms crossed i was there for 15 min. I called and complained and was transfferd to a diffrent club farther away form my home instead of being cx like a wanted to. I complained untill i got outta the contract. Now, a week later they charged my account $39.what should i do?

I have to do a project for World Geography about Human Rights violations in China. What are some suggestions? I can do something artful or a PowerPoint, as well as something like a mobile or collage. Anything goes as long as its respectful to those suffering and relatively tasteful.

I have a friend who took offense that I didn't consider him a lawyer because he had not taken the bar exam; and every definition concerning American lawyers online state "licensed to practice law." or some variation to that effect. He stormed off in a huff because I "disrespected his 120,000$ degree, even though I pointed out to him I could not find any fact to back up his opinion.
