well it's truancy if they dont go to school. but until they're 16 then it's up to them if they want to drop out or not. but police do check computers and stuff.
however answering your question it isn't a crime if they run away (and don't go to school after 16, IN MY STATE BTW)

this depends on your State Laws or the Laws in the State where the mionor is from. In some states its illiagal to cross state line or even county lines with a minor in any situation if you are not the parent or gurdian. At 15 the police have all the information on the minor and can arrest you and they have to take you home. Now this is only in some states. Now if the reason why the person is running away is abuse there are things that this minor can do. Crying wolf is not the answer. The minor can be removed from the home by law and placed with other family even if its out of state. The child/minor will be brought back to the state where they were removed from if the minor/child has to show up in court. This is the best way to handle things. I would have this person fully understand what can happen on the streets and say wait tell he/she is 16 and can get a job then leave the home cause then the person no longer has to live at home and can get a place of her/his own. Then become imansipated and that means they are legally 18 in the eyes of the law and that includes everything that has to do with the law. This person can go to jail and so on after this has happend. So ask your local police officer what this person can and cant do to be safe in any way they can be. Since this is not you and all you can do this for your friend so you know he/she is safe. There are run away shelters for minors out there as well that can help out with any questions but trust me tell your friend that going to one of those is a bad idea my sister inlaw had all her stuff taken and she was raped at one. So do the right thing by your friend and find the best way to keep this person safe from the bad people in this world.

If the minor commits a crime then yes they can be held accountable, running away is not a crime though. Yes, the police will check any computers for backup of the crime. The worst that can happen if the parent does not want to handle the minor they will get removed from the home and get placed in juvenile detention or a boys/girls home until they graduate from high school or turn 18 whichever comes first. Daily check ups and counseling will be required. Not a good life, better to make it work at home where your family is and they love and care about you.

Nothing, you will probably be recommended or your so called friend lol to a councilor. If the Police See that your in a dangerous situation with your family they will take action on your behalf to protect you. hard Ärives if they believe your highly in danger like a child molester has lured the child. but i doubt it. When the child returns questions will be asked and whatever action will need to be taken. Just for safety reasons. These days the whole system is always on the child's side.

short of murder/rape, I can't think of anything that won't be wiped off a criminal record when the person turns 18... most of the time children are returned to their parents and ordered to go to counseling
