Me and my friends had an argument over this. Is the drinking age (21) a federal law? And to broaden the subject, must all states obey federal law?

Last year I was told by an overseas client that I had
a wire pending. For $70,000. Since he had paid previously
in amounts of $35,000 and $15,000 on 4 occasions I had no
reason to think it wouldn't. When he gave me confirmation
I wrote 3 checks in total $56000. When he at first said
the wire was delayed I told the bank to hold and redeposit.
When he said he couldn't I asked bank 2 cancel. The bank bounced
all but $30000 which I replaced with a 2nd mortgage.
Someone apparently have tried to charge me
with grand theft - I guess they don't know it's my mother
in law and think I tried to defraud - does anyone have any
thoughts? I've never even had a jaywalking ticket but to
sleep at night would like to hear this will be dropped or
if anyone knows the fine I can pay to avoid a jail sentence
for something I didn't do - I have an autistic child and want
them to stop
hounding me &norm life-please don't answer with a guess it's too important - ps I DO have a lawyer

wouldn't "knife control" help save lives, and if people had to apply for knife permits then criminals couldn't get knives.

I was a medical resident (intern) in a hospital in WashingtonDC years ago and am requesting a copy of my file. They are ignoring/refusing me? What can I do? Should I take legal action? They are denying me credit for several months I worked there which is seriously affecting my current job and opportunities for advancement now.

I wasn't at fault and was in hospital for 2 days. Suffered major cuts around right eye requiring around 40 stitches. Looks terrible at moment, likely to be scarred for life. My car insurance company has put me onto a specialist lawyer as I had legal cover in my policy. Is this my best route? How much am I likely to be looking at in terms of compensation for my injuries?

Two people blaming someone in the state of KY for two counts of theft by unlawful taking. The discovery just came in and all they had were them talking to the grand jury. The record for the person being accused is clean. What will happen, will they drop it since it is mostly she say he say, or will they send this person to jail, please give me any info you have. Thank you in advance

I was watching Fox News and they said that kids now days are becoming so bad because we don't punish them anymore. Fox News suggested we bring back capital punishment or let teachers carry hand guns to scare the kids into submission. I think that is a bit extreme. Your thoughts?

Is it true that in the state of California after winning a judgement in small claims court unless the defendant is willing to pay, there is no other means for you to collect? I thought that if you paid an extra fee, the court would assist you by ordering wage attachments (provided the person has a job). Is there any truth to this? What good does it do to go thru all the trouble of taking someone to court and paying all the stupid court fees if the court itself doesn't help you collect?

My buddy just recently got a fake id. It has his picture and all on it just a different state and different birthday obviously. He went into a local Frys/Safeway type place and they wrote down some of the info and asked him to sign a sheet of paper. This has happened to a few of my buddies before. Is this just so they are not liable?

Ok, so I have been having some trouble with my neighbors and their dogs and my dogs. Their dogs bark at my dogs, which ofcourse causes my dogs to bark back. The neighbors have late parties in their back yards (lots of screaming and yelling) which causes my dogs to bark. The fence between my house and their house is on my side of the property line and was pretty rotten when I moved in, the fence is being destroyed by both sets of dogs. I am repairing it little by little as budget allows, but today, the two sets of dogs collectively pulled two planks out of the fence. My boyfriend saw it happen and went out and directly nailed up two new planks. Our dogs stayed in our yard the whole time. But, the neighbors called the cops and said that both of my dogs got in their yard and one dog tried to bite their son. I know that this did not happen, but the cops don't believe me and I am being fined for destruction of private property (even though the fence is in MY yard), and public nuscence.
