Ok, so I have been having some trouble with my neighbors and their dogs and my dogs. Their dogs bark at my dogs, which ofcourse causes my dogs to bark back. The neighbors have late parties in their back yards (lots of screaming and yelling) which causes my dogs to bark. The fence between my house and their house is on my side of the property line and was pretty rotten when I moved in, the fence is being destroyed by both sets of dogs. I am repairing it little by little as budget allows, but today, the two sets of dogs collectively pulled two planks out of the fence. My boyfriend saw it happen and went out and directly nailed up two new planks. Our dogs stayed in our yard the whole time. But, the neighbors called the cops and said that both of my dogs got in their yard and one dog tried to bite their son. I know that this did not happen, but the cops don't believe me and I am being fined for destruction of private property (even though the fence is in MY yard), and public nuscence.

I have caught the neighbors shooting fireworks and throwing rocks at my animals but no one beleives me and I think its because of my age. I don't know what to do and I have decided to take the dogs to the pound. Any other suggestions?

You might have to double-fence, that is put up the wooden privacy fence between you and the neighbors, then put any type of metal fence on your side to keep your dogs from destroying it. Take pictures to document the situation. Your citation is based on property lines and he said/ she said. Prove the fence is your property, and as the other reply suggested, video document his dogs, starting now. Just as police use video to prove court cases, so can you. It lets the judge know who REALLY is telling the truth.

Build a new fence behind the rotting and falling apart one. They can not say anything because you are not dismanteling or touching the old fence.
Instal a video or webcam in backyard to catch them throwing rocks at your dogs.
Have outdoor flood lighting set on motion sensors that shines light right into their windows for some weird reason at 3 am.
Plant some Rue all along the fenceline. In the hot summer, the plant smells like a rotten corpse, I kid you not. Let your neighbors wallow in the stench.
Put a lot of bird feeders and bird houses in your front yard near the neighbors driveway. In a few weeks their cars will be covered in poo.

if possible borrow a video camera to record these instance's . you know even if you get rid of the dogs ,you will probably still have problems with the the people next door. if the fence is on your property do you own or rent, this makes a big difference. you have to call the police first don't get angry but maybe your dogs should not be out side dogs only. it is hard to make a decision on this even for me.. or maybe even get one small dog for inside,or call the humane society for suggestions.

This is a case of your word against theirs. Go to court and tell them your side of the story.

As far as the barking goes, you are responsible for your dogs no matter the other dogs instigation. In my city you could be charged for misdemeanor if a police officer were to show up and determine the dog barking was unreasonable. All it would take is for one neighbor to complain and insist on pressing charges.

Collect evidence, and fight the citation. Get video, that always works. Get property proof that you own the fence. Keep your dogs, you will probably need them.

Do not get rid of your dogs. Start taken pictures and go to court and plea not guilty. Start calling the police everytime they have a party and keep filing complaints. Hopefully they will get sick of it and move.
