I have never had a problem with responsible gun ownership or conceal carry. Every state should decide for them selves on this issue. Keep the federal government out of it.

There is no rise in crime. Don't you dare get crime rates from the media. That's the worst place to get any sort of valid statistics. Crime rate has been stable for decades. When you want to talk about statistical crime rates annually or per decade, you have to use "per capita." You can't just count the numbers. For example, they may say Houston has the highest crime rate...there are 1 million criminals. Whereas they may say in a smaller city, such as Dallas, has a lower crime rate, when in fact, it's Dallas with the higher crime rate. You have to take into account the population size, not just numbers. And, if theorists are to be believed that age has a huge correlation with crime, then the numbers SHOULD actually be going down since the baby boomers, who represented a huge part of our population are now too old to commit most crimes and had few children.

First of all, let's correct the facts. Overall crime in the United States has been decreasing for the last decade. That said, I have not problem with people carrying personal weapons, as long as they are licensed. You need a license to drive a car, you should need proper training and a license to carry a gun.

Nuf' said.

I do support the right to bear arms. Concealed weapons are a horse of another color.
Why not have everyone carry a side arm as in the Old West.

I understand your concern for the rise in crime, and on the surface it seems that such is more than enough reason for every citizen to carry weapons, but the problems and potential concecuences are too bad to overlook. Even for a balanced person, the fact of owning a weapon could be an excuse for snap and "arrange an issue" shooting. Life is full of unexpected, unwanted situations, nasty people, abusers, etc.. but shooting everyone who behaves badly with us is not the solution and we can wind up in jail that certainly won't make anyone feel better. I think that people in general should be forbidden to owe weapons, in the case of hunters, one rifle is more than enough and should be controled by the army. People should start changing their ways. Some people is unable to talk about a problem without insults and threats, some others doesn't know how to make agreements, some are rude and hostile and irritate others in such a way that they could get hurt. If people is not allowed to carry a gun and acknowledges that doing so is illegal, people will be forced to find less violent, or non violent ways to solve their problems, and if every day more people is not willing to be pasive towards nasty people abusing them verbally, shocking them with a straight and harsh answer or firing them if they are employees telling them why so they realize that their nastiness is not welcome they will have to change. It will take several years, but it also took years to get to the state of irratioanl violence and lack of control that now we are living. So, start with yourself, each one of us, with your children, with the TV shows that we see, and some other personal steps and we will make it change. Lets help each others, lets be solidary, lets start with our personal environment, without weapons and with a strong will and determination. Is possible.

NO American citizens SHOULD NOT be able carry concealed weapons around. We are able to possess guns in our homes. (one of the Bill of Rights) Just call a police to where the fight/crime is. If you're the taget, take some self-defense lessons. It's better than concealing a weapon.

no that makes things worse. the military should be put on the streets and work with police to round up every gang member search every home in a high crime gang area and remove every fire arm. arrest every person who has a warrant for arrest agaist them . the miltary should set up make shift prisons in some rural area like they did in iraq just some razar wire and men with tanks sitting there ready to shot the lot if they attempt to leave. once this is done you wont need a gun . the inmates of the new prison would be forced to build a better one hard labour and if they are gang members they stay until they die. simple as that they stay until death .
dont pull the military off the streets until every home in the nation has been searched and every illegal fire arm removed .
make sure every one who has a legal fire arm has a solid approved metal bolted to the wall gun safe one that would take hours to break into and be next to impossible to remove.
another thing update gun laws . no one should be allowed to have a auto matic gun or one that can be converted easily to one . a 2 shot shot gun max. a 6 shot revolver max and only with very specail premission and stick laws regarding it use and storage beyond just the gun safe.
no fire arm should be able to hold more then 6 shots at one time and no gun should be able to fire a bullet that would be more powerfull then the standard weapons the police carry in there cop cars each day .
do this get rid of bush . break up unions in the auto industry bring home every single military person from every country there in . all ships and planes in military stay in usa period
and you might start to see people wave at police and read in the head lines that mrs smith and mr smith served tea on saturday in there home . now wouldnt that be better.

Yes, I do. With all the criminal activity, people may want/need now more than ever to have a weapon to protect themselves. As long as they have the proper paper work that comes along with the gun, then I don't see why not. Besides, it wouldn't be very smart for someone with a registered gun to do something crazy when they know all evidence will point back to their gun.

The purpose of a gun is to murder someone. The reason for hiding it is so that you can get closer before murdering them. Even a stupid criminal knows that an American male has a gun and a female probably has a gun so he will kill first unless you are actually needed alive. The second amendment provides the right to bear arms so that when one state decides to defend itself from its neighbour by attacking it there is no need to arm the militia, it has already provided its own weapons.
