THis would not be a hipaa violation.
Hipaa only applies to the transfer of medical information by entities such as healthcare facilities, healthcare workers, insurance personnel.
example being if my neighbor was a patient on a floor I worked at as a nurse, or housekeeper or whatever and I was not involved in her care and I looked in her chart, This would be a hipaa violation.
Or if I walked down a hallway discussing the medical conditions of my patients and some bystander overheard me this would be a hipaa violation.
Someone in your office discussing your health problems is probably a workplace violation, check with your human resource dept.

Did you tell the person you spoke to your condition ?
Never do that , just say you are not well.
That was not a hipaa violation because the office staff is NOT your doctors staff and YOU disclosed your medical condition.

Hipaa violations are when the medical staff that treats you or handles your file , discloses it to unauthorized persons.
In this case , you disclosed it to people.
Sue yourself.

That's likely a HIPPA violation. That's a pretty big deal. I'd be looking into that in all seriousness.
