I want to know if there is a legal maxiumum working week as I know someone who is being made to work an 82 hour week and I want to know if the company is breaking the law.

I have been on to the HSE website but it's not the easiest to navitgate and I can only find research which discusses what kind of hours are considered "long"...but I can't find anything about legal requirements. Maybe there are only non-binding recommendations?

If anyone knows the law on this - especially if there's anyone who can give me a link to a web page where I could print out any legislation on this - it would be very much appreciated.

Ex boyfriend and I rented a trailor from a dude and it didnt have a refridgerator so in return for the deposit we told him that we would supply a refridgerator and leave it when we moved out. Well i moved out in December, and the ex just moved out, taking the refridgerator with him. Now the landlord is calling me because Ex refuses to take it back. Am I resonsible for this? Even though he told them the day before he moved, that he was leaving it. They call me daily and tell me that they are gonna have to put a warrant out ,and threathen me if they dont get a refridgerator.

Briefly: I am a US Citizen that inherited a home in Mexico:
I believe that I need someone who can act as a type of mediator between myself and the current legal representation I have there in Mexico. I have many reasons to believe that the assistance that has been given to me has NOT with my best intrest in mind or with any intention of providing a timely resolve.

To expose all the corrupt people around us to the mass thereby make them feel shy and feel more than death in front of others
so that others may hesitate to emulate them.
Ultimately corrupt people are to be banished from mingling with the society. Is it possible?

People are always giving out about how much it costs to keep people in jail and what we get for 'free' while you're in there - why don't they keep the jails for violent crimes and for other thinks like drugs, DUI, theft - get people to do community service, pay fines or something like that.

I've been in jail twice - robbery/stolen goods and DUI - and I was surprised how many people were in for minor stuff like me - people like me deserved to be punished I suppose but we didn't need to be in jail.

My husband adopted my son who was mine from a prior marriage. My son's father has been unsupportive and absent for most of my son's life. My husband has been a wonderful father to him.

At the time the adoption took place we agreed that my ex would still be able to be a part of our son's life, but we wanted to adoption to ensure that he would not be seperated from his sister in the event of my death- my husband would get custody of both.

After a few months, my ex husband started drinking again and we decided the risk to our son's emotional health was not worth it and we cut all ties. He is a very violent drunk.

My ex husband has quit drinking even if only temporarily and is saying he's getting a lawyer to reverse our adoption because we did not hold our end of the bargain up. There is nothing in writing about him being allowed to visit his son and he no longer has rights. Can he do this? We do not want to risk allowing him back into our son's life. He has messed up too much.

The Zionist Movement to occupy Palestine has led to countless deaths of Palestinains, and other muslims alike. The Zionists (Israelis) continue to occupy areas of Palestine such as the West Bank although International Law forbids it. Why are Zionists allowed to break international laws and still prosper on other people's land?

He has his father's last name on the birth certificate, but his father has not been in his life at all and does not pay child support. I don't even know exactly where he is. I want to change my child's last name to mine. He's only 3 and I want to have it changed before he starts compiling school records. How do I file for this and does the father have to approve it? His signature is not on the birth certificate because he was not at the birth to sign it, but he is listed by me as the father. And how much does it cost to have it changed and what is the waiting period if there is one?

I sold my car in September 06. The man who bought it got three tickets that came to me, before he registered it. I requested a copy of the Release of Liability with the DMV three times, all of which we ignored. I have called them and they do have the Release on file. I have now filed a complaint with the DMV and I'm hoping this will get me the copy of the Release. That is the only way to prove that I didn't get these tickets myself.

Even if/when I finaly get the Release to prove I didn't cause these tickets this is an ongoing pain in the neck. While I've been waiting to get the Release the tickets went to collections which is damaging my credit. That will be another big mess to clean up.

Can I sue this guy for the time and stress this has caused? It was defenetly willful on his part - one of the tickets was for crossing the bridge w/o paying the toll - about 10 min. after I sold it to him.

If it helps I'm in Oakland CA and this guy probably lives in San Fransico.

My husband is divorced with children. His ex-wife has custody of the two minor children. My husband had custody of the oldest child, now 21. As a result, she paid child support towards the oldest and my husband paid towards the younger two. This agreement remained in place even after the oldest turned 18. Now, her attorney is claiming my husband owes back child support because she did not need to keep paying once he turned 18. Is this correct? Or, did she need to file paper work to enact this change?

Is it right that they can threaten you with a huge sentence to get you to plead guilty/no contest to charges. I was barely over the limit on a DUI and wanted to go not guilty but I was told I could get 12 months as I had been already in jail and was on probation.

I ended up getting 30 days when most people wouldn't get any jail time for something similar. Seemed unfair to me but I sure as hell wasn't going to risk 12 months.

I just got a letter in the mail (not even my correct address) saying I won the lottery...blah, blah, blah. I know it's fake. (Hello, stuff is spelled wrong and the signature on the check doesn't match the issuer's!) I was just wondering if I should report this, and to whom would I do that?

Also, how do these people get my information? Name, address (albeit wrong), what else do they have? Should I be concerned?

The robbery resulted in assaults on 3 of the employees. A previous manager had asked for additional security measure after other robberies that resulted in no injuries, but no additional security measures were taken. It took 3 people to get beat up for the business to add a part-time guard and bars on the windows.

I always heard that any juvenile delinquent's records were always sealed and their names were with-held due to their age. I'm not asking whether this is right or wrong. I was just surprised when I read a news story out of Ohio about a 13 year old charged with 128 felonies. I'd understand if he committed murder and was charged as an adult, but from what I got out of the story, he is in juvenile detention... So are juvenile records releasable or not? They gave not only his name, but posted a picture. Again, not asking whether it's right or wrong, just is it legal?

I'm doing a debate on this topic, and I was lucky enough to be against a doctor dating his patient.

for anyone who would like to try to contradict my speech I would greatly appreciate it.

I won't give my speech fully, I'll just give my main points.
-dating patient can only cause a doctors mind to become clouded, and not give a proper treatment
-by dating a patient, the patient will not be less comfortable giving full information to the doctor, like to complain about his/her genital herpes
-dating a patient is unethical, but at the same time it's understood doctors have feelings as well, therefore if they find the need to date their patient, what would the problem be in refering them to another doctor and continue the relationship?

I have more points, but I would like to hear people contradict my points, and maybe even raise more points. I'm not looking for a "I agree with you" answer, I want contradictions. Try to destroy my points, corner

I can't believe Yahoo actually provided the Hong Kong autorities emails that were in a journalists supposedly private email box. How can we feel safe and secure about our Yahoo email account when it's obvious that Yahoo can go in and read any content sent in and out of an email account. Not to mention give information given through UNLAWFUL Search and Seizure means, with no warrant, to the authorities. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? And since when did Yahoo become the authorities lap dog? It's the first amendment for a reason, and Yahoo's actions speak for themselves, our content is not private. I never thought I'd see the day that the a media comglomerate like Yahoo would trample the First Amendment, nice to know Yahoo sided with Censorship. I know this happened in Hong Kong where the laws are different but where does this stop, and who's to know what you are doing with our information?
