Here's an idea: pay your child support...

The best way to get your license back is to pay the child support. This means of enforcing payment tends to be effective, unless you are willing to run the risk of driving with a supspended license, which I don't recommend. Stay current on your payments, and you won't have any problems.

There's really no way to get it back unless you pay your back child support. You might try and negotiate with your ex-spouse and have the court lift the order, but it is highly unlikely that the judge would agree to such an arrangement unless you first made a sizable payment to reduce your debt.

Good luck.

In NY you have to call the child support agency and make arrangements to pay the back support and when the first payment has been made its reinstated. I had it happen to me because an employer was not sending it in.

yeah, but you have to pay back a huge chunk of that arrears amount.

it must be a large amount to make them take the DL, so maybe borrow it from family, friend, home eq loan, etc.

til then, take the bus to the post office and make sure your payments are sent... or they will take a lot more then just a DL.

gone are the days of hiding or not paying... the courts are onto that little trick.

today, arrears are forever.
