Don't get me wrong - I don't begrudge my ex the support I pay. But I *do* wonder why I have to pay 100% of the income tax on money that she gets to spend - and she does not pay any income tax on it. Why does the recipient of the child support income not have to pay half - or at least some portion of - the money they receive?

It really seems like a dis-incentive for a lot of less honest fathers to pay support. Please help me understand the legal reasons, if not fairness of this. And please - I *know* that single mom's have it tough - that's not a reason. Single, divorced dad's have it tough too - believe me.

I went through a recent bad breakup with my girlfriend of almost 6 years. We share a dog that was purchased a year ago. The dog was around $1500, and the whole purchase was put on my credit card. We agreed to split the price in half, but she still owes around $200. All payments were given to me as cash after the initial purchase of the dog. The dog is with her now and will be returning to my place soon. I do not want to do this dog trading for the life of the dog... So when the dog is with me I would like to keep him for good. I would like to get a lawyer's input on this situation, but cold calling them in the phone book got me nowhere. Can someone actually shed some intelligent lawful insight to this and not just "well what I would do"... Although somewhat helpful, i am seeking actual lawful advice. Thank you

Okay-last year of Oct 2006 I was caught drinking and driving-one of my friends also was drinking and driving, and in top of that the cop that pulled us over found some weed that we both have. (YES I did spent 2 nights in jail) The
thing is that I have been in court for 2 times already because they keep resetting my court date-the first time they resetted my court date was because i didn't have a lawyer nor a court appointed lawyer so the judge resetted my court date- The second round of going to court because of my resetted date; I couldn't make it due to i was registerating for my classes that day and so i contacted my attorney and we have another reset court date in the next couple of months. My question is will this incident be in my public records even though I technically haven't been in court for the court hasn't technically given me the guilty statement nor even the court costs/probation stuff to come/ and the fines?

A firend of mine went on a sand and testified to being at a bronter in laws-house at certain times when he was not. He did it to protects the person for downlaoding somethings. But now he is in trouble for lying. He did not mean to lie he says and that he was not sure of all the facts when he went on the stand. The dates and times he gave were true (he thought) but papers prove they werew all a lie. What can my friend do to get a lawyer that will represent his case?

My local mailman is a real jerk. He maced my dog through a screen door. Like my dog could have really bit him through a door. So to get revenge on this gutless/ coward mailman, I went to the public mailbox (the standard blue ones) he picks up at and scooped 1/2 gallon of chocolate fudge ice cream in it. I then waited from afar to see the look of disgust on his face as he tried to make sense of the ruined ice cream soaked mail. Now hopefully when he brings this back to the post office he will be fired for getting his ice cream on the mail. Don't you agree this is great karma for an animal abuser?

CAN ONLY ONE PERSON CHANGE A DIVORCE DECREE? Please help and SEE DETAIL.?
I was divorced from my wife last Friday and the next day she was arrested for dem viol against me. Our house is for sale and I had an offer on it that I know she would accept. She will not contact me back about or anything else including bills and taking now her dogs from our home that I am living in.

The judgment states she can reside here but is choosing not to which is better anyways.

We were getting along fine until the arrest and now I think she is trying to get out of the divorce judgment.

Can she? Not to get married again but I think she now has decided it isn't fair or something. I don't know but it's fishy she doesn't want to close on this house ASAP??? The judge signed off on it but is there a so called 48 hour free look or something were it can be voided???

Please help. I am talking with a lawyer Thursday but was wondering now. It has me stressing!

Thanks!!!!!

My sister recently got her divorce final in Sept 06 and her ex pays her $160 per week for her 2 girls ages 3 an 6. The percentage taken out of his check is the lowest percentage allowed by law, he had a really good lawyer. He makes about $14 per hour, plus overtime every other week. She makes $11 per hour and sometimes does not get 40 hours. She was getting help with child care from the state, but they have taken it away saying that she makes too much $. Now, she will be paying $200 YES $200 per week for daycare (the 6 year old goes there from 2-6 after school) plus rent, utilities, food etc. The ex works another job, but he lied at court and said he only had the 1 job. He is just getting paid cash for his work and there is no way of proving it. What do you think she should do? How can we prove he is working? We live in Georgia by the way.

Thank you very much!

I'm trying to come up with a solid apellate defense for Morris in United States v. Morris and would appreciate any help some of you might have. Has anyone done this before and if so, what's the best approach? The ambiguity of the statute or interpretation of courts? Thanks for any advice!

My Grandma is very sick. She's been having a lot of strokes and been in the hospital for awhile. We don't think she's going to make it much longer. There's been alot of dispute going on with the family because my aunt is already spending her money...has her condo and car up for sale and she hasn't even died yet! Well my mother and other aunt had an investigator look into this and the police as well. The investigator ordered my aunt to fax the will to my other aunt and my mom. She did that but my parents said that they can tell the page numbers on the will have been changed and there should be 6 pages and they only received 4. Also the name of the lawyers/witnesses are not real. What can we do about this and who do we contact? My grandma and aunt is in Florida and the rest of us are in Michigan.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

always base their claims on the idea that morality is relative and each person judges what is right and wrong....Yet, when the question of whether or not the "wealthy" and successful should be forced to pay high taxes, they claim that it's not......."right"....for them to have all the wealth? Sounds hypocritical to me...but I suppose i'm just a greedy, evil, fascist neo-con.

I work in Texas and we recently got a new CEO for the last few years since the CFO left I have assumed these duties. I was laid off last year for requesting a raise then hired back with the promise of my office, salary etc. My offiec developed a maintenance issue and I had to temporarily move. During the time it was getting fixed, un known to me it was given to an employee transferring down from the owners law firm. I then moved to the receptionist area as there was room for me.
The new CEO having only spent about an hour with me told me he felt I was not qualified to be a CFO I said I didnt want to be. Said he would never ask me to provide financial statments, budgets etc as I wasnt qualified. Yet in the next week I was asked to do just that. I have been demoted via my title, and moved into a cubicle that was designed for outside employees to have a place for their laptops with no storage etc. ( I am the finance dept). Hooks on the cube wall for coats i cant hang mine otherscan
