A firend of mine went on a sand and testified to being at a bronter in laws-house at certain times when he was not. He did it to protects the person for downlaoding somethings. But now he is in trouble for lying. He did not mean to lie he says and that he was not sure of all the facts when he went on the stand. The dates and times he gave were true (he thought) but papers prove they werew all a lie. What can my friend do to get a lawyer that will represent his case?

Its honestly at a judges discretion what they will do about perjury. Some judges do nothing while others fine and put someone on probation and then you may run into the rare judge who will actually put someone in jail.

Sounds like Scooter Libby's lawyer might be able to help him. If he is charged with perjury, and the penalty could include jail or prison time, he is entitled to get his own lawyer or, if he can't afford one, he will be appointed one. Otherwise, he'll have to cough up some money for a retainer.

Simply hire or get the state to get him one if he can't afford it... He shouldn't have lied to protect the guilty...
