Yes but it depends on what prison they are in. Some urban prisons with alot of poor, uneducated, minorities are overcrowded and have poor everything from bedding to space to food to healthcare. The white collar criminals, however, go to federal prisons where they have access to the internet, can have picnics with their families and access to whatever health care they need. This is the case for some of the local/ county prisons.
For example, Illinois ex-govenor Ryan's prison and housing will be much better than say the prison that some poor bastard who sold drugs to temporarily support his drug addiction.
When I got sick and did not have health insurance I was in cook county hospital - the old one. It was horrible, my room mate was a heroin addict who hated her parents because they hated her bf who fed her the smack. Next door was some guy screaming and cursing all night because he was in pain and dying and the morphine was not working. On the other side of him was a guy from county prison in chains with a cop outside of the makeshift door. When I left this allegedly "free" hospital, since I didnt have insurance I got a 6k bill and bad mark on my credit report. They told me when I went in through emergency (11 hour wait) that I would get temporary medicaid but went back on it after I left because I wasnt on welfare or public assistance. The prisoner got to use a phone whenever he wanted to by saying he needed to call his lawyer, I had no phone access. The prisoner claimed to be ill and got a transfer and a room immediately, I was throwing up in the emergency room for 11 hrs, the prisoner didnt get a bill. I got a bill that I could not pay off with a years overtime.
If he needed brain surgery, dermatology, etc... he would have been put in front of all of the working class joe's who pay taxes to support that hospital.
So yes free healthcare when you are sick beats expensive healthcare you can't pay for, even when your tax money "pimps" the criminals. Makes you think maybe you should have a baby in jail and skip the 40k hospital bill, or if you have cancer go sell some drugs and THEN you can get all the chemo you need. Just do it in a rich community. Chicago jails are scary even as a visitor they scare me.

Yes, but this is not a country of cruel punishment. You do not know why they are in prison, you do not even know if they are guilty of their charged crime.

To people that ***** and moan about this, I say, get a better job with better benefits and move on. You have the freedom and ability to do so - because circumstances did not land you in a bad situation.

Prison is not a picnic like some of the ignorant people believe. It is not a big unfair thing - would you rather save your tax dollars and have a potentially dangerous person living next door to you? Would you prefer cruel and unusual punishment - then when you are falsely charged with something you can be treated cruelly and unusually - or have your diseases ignored - with no possible way to fix it? **** happens.

On the otherhand, I am thoroughly annoyed that we are not provided decent healthcare as a nation to begin with. Affordable healthcare should be a right - and we do not have it. We need to come up with a solution, and soon.

Yes they do - and it sucks!!! They get dental care too - think about it this way...Rape victims who can't afford insurance have to live with the cavities but rapists get to have their teeth cleaned and cavities filled.
Just seems wrong don't it?

As a law abiding citizen - and judgmental person in general haha - I'm ok with pain and suffering in prison. You made someones life miserable to get into prison in the first place. You shouldn't get cable! I can't afford cable!!!

Yes, isn't it great? Go out and harm society and be rewarded with shelter, three squares, tv, college, and health care. Why aren't we all out robbing and killing each other?

of course they do it's free too amazing but true so if you ever get cancer commit a felony and you'll be treated cured and out on probation in no time epically if it is a violent felony because it seems that they can't release these people fast enough.
