My husband was arrested yesterday for VOP. Police stoped him for a traffic ticket and found out he had a warrant from another county (miami, FL) we understood this was already over more than 5 years ago. After 100 calls I came to find out that he was still owing 250 dollars for some charges of his restitution amount. I paid it the same day, yesterday. He is still in the county jail we live waiting to be picked up by miami and see the judge. He does not owe any money,it was all a mistake, we never receive a letter stating that he still owed the money. Any way what will happen to him? Will the Judge let him go? His probation was for 2 years but if he paid all the money he owed it was over. Please advise I am going crazy. thank you

I purchased a motorcycle for my boyfriend of 5 years, and he agreed to make the payments on it. Two months after this purchase, he broke up with me and then voluntarily returned the bike to me. Now, he's suing me for how much he spent on the bike (accessories etc.) I don't get any use out of the bike, I can't ride it, and I have been making the monthly payments. Can I countersue him for the payments because he agreed to pay them, and hasnt been?

Can a repair shop keep your car and charge you storage and they could not fix the problem, then take your tag off the car and say you have abandon your car? What can we do time is running out. The story is my Son had it towed to the repair shop by the same repair shop and then was told that it could not be fixed. When he went to pick up the car he was told that they were charging towing and repairs. They said they could not fix it and was never sent anything in writing to this effect. Now they have taken the tag off the car and said he abandoned the car which is not true. He has been trying to work with the owner. The owner says he wants all fees for storage ,attempted repair, and towing, and if he does not get it he is going to put the car up as abandon because of non payment of his services. Is this legal and what can be done? Please help time is running out. What are the laws in Georgia. Thanks

Ok, I've been dating this girl that is 15 for two months now, and her parents have forbid it from day one. I'm seventeen, and we are almost exactly two years apart within a week.

Yesterday I got a call from her, but surprise surprise, it was her mom, and they found out that we were seeing each other. To say she was pissed was an understatement. She's threatening me with all kinds of crap, which I don't think she can back up. First they say if I don't stay away from her they can charge me with statutory rape, which first of all, we haven't done anything, and second of all, if I understand the oklahoma rape laws, adolescents may consent with adolescents, as we are now, and a 16 year old can consent with a legal adult, which I will be, but she'll be 16 a week after I am.

A co-worker of mine recently told me that if a child (baby) is born on an international flight he/she would become a citizen of the world. Which she explained that because the child was born in the air it had no real citizenry. Is there any truth to this? This would explain why doctors may not want pregnant women to fly after the seventh month. Any takers to this question?

I notice that the police don't like to use a signal when changing lanes or making a turn onto another street. Allthough I understand that when in an emergency, with the emergency lights on, they don't have to follow the rules. But when I see a cop make a turn into a 7-11 parking lot right in front of me, with no obvious emergency, I want to pull in next to them and make a loud complaint.
The turning signal is just an example. There are other things that they think they are above the law too.
The police have to follow the laws also. Why do they get the attitude that they can just throw away all the laws that protect us and do what they want?

Do you find it interesting that Ex-Secretary of the Army, Thomas White, sold 12 million dollars in shares from Enron just days before the bankruptcy?

Do you find it interesting that Halliburton is the primary contractor to the US in Iraq, and has extreme ties to Dick Cheney?

Is it odd that Bush made over 100 thousand dollars in insider trading, by selling Harken stock (4Xs more that what Martha made), in 1989, and didn't even get a slap on the wrist? (It might have something to do with the fact that the head of the SEC was Bush Sr's best friend and Bush Sr was still president).

Is it odd that we trust these people to manage our tax dollars, and yet they can't even manage their own...Sort of like Bush JR running the Texas Rangers to the ground and trading Sammy Sousa?

Is it really a surprise that our country is over 8 trillion dollars in debt?

for me i'd make it easier for 1st time buyers onto the property ladder which would involve a law similar to that where OAP's can buy up property cheaply.

This would hopefully stop all the greedy people who buy to let getting their wicked evil ways.

I purchased a digital camera online. I am a fan of online shopping but this company was very rude. I ordered a camera without knowing it was an import model, the slimy salesman told me this and so I purchased the US model instead ( For about $100 more. ( I checked the small print before so that I knew I was supposed to get the import with my initial purchase). He also told me I needed a memory card and said that the US model came with it so as to make me buy that model. He also failed to tell me the final price after shipping/tax to make it seem like a logical deal. i got the camera yesterday and there was no memory card. I was also charged twice as much for shipping and I am sure I still got the import model because the instructions manual refers to some of the accesories under " for customers outside the US and Canada", which I have that type, . what rights protect me so I can get my $$ back? I will contact them but since they're dishonest, they'll redirect me w/out helping me

We rent a house in the country. The landlord's cousins have been driving into our yard to access a woods behind our house. The woods are not their property nor the landlord's. They have chewed up our yard by getting stuck in it and having to be pulled out. They said they would come fix it. 30 foot ruts. They haven't yet, been a couple days. We ask the guys what they are doing, they tell us. Then the next day, landlord comes over, says the guys have her permission to be back there whenever. We don't want them driving thru our yard and tearing it up. We don't like them just showing up whenever and coming thru our yard. Does the landlord have to give us notice when they are coming? We have a signed lease, of course. Can we get these guys to quit coming thru our yard? There is no other way to get to the woods, and all that's back there is junk they are stealing. What can we do?

so we got a flat last night b/c it was dark and rainy and we drove into a pothole was really big and gave us a flat tire.

when we pulled into the first parking lot after the pothole, there was another guy already there who had just also gotten a flat. The same thing happened to him that happened to us. The pothole is huge, the area is not well lit, and with all the rain, there was no way to see it coming.

should the city pay for our new tire, since they are responsible for keeping the roads drivable? How does one go about getting the city to pay for it?

If you are convicted of a misdemeanor (as opposed to something like DWI), are there any longer-term implications? I.e., do you have to disclose it to a prospective employer, a landlord, etc.?

I would really like to know what people around the United States think.
I've heard of some small school systems that went from paying $1000 dollars a year for English as a second language support to $700,000 in a year or 2.
In my county, the sheriff's dept. was working with ICE( Immigration and customs enforcement) to deport convicted criminals who were also wanted for charges in Mexico. A local Hispanic alliance was quoted in the paper as saying they were outraged that they were not consulted!
Why would we consult a "support group" to uphold our laws? Why would anyone want the bad guys to stay around?
I have many friends and several family members from all over the world and I speak 3 languages. Diversity of cultures is a good thing, but some times we really clash. When my brother was married in Mexico city he had to pay bribes to 3 different government officials to get a marriage license. If that happened in the USA those 3 people would go to jail.
What do you think?
