I sold an item on ebay and the buyer payed with a cashier check. I being stupid, thought the cashier check was good being it was prepaid, but turned out it was a fruaduent check. I cashed in the check and sent the item but the bank is now informing me it was a fake check. I'm pretty sure it is a felony to print out a fake casheir's check and send it across state lines.
What can I do to get my money back? What legal actions can I take? Please help, I'm out $800. Thanks

last Thursday, the cops came to my homel, while I was at work. According to them, somebody made a 9-1-1 call from my home (which wasn't true). So, they searched my home without permission and took my children away because of a dirty home. I went to the police station to find out if there actually was a 9-1-1 call.....and they couldn't find any information. So, to my knowledge they entered my home illegally, they didn't have permission to enter my home. So, my question for any lawyers out there is......can i file a lawsuit and get all the charges dropped (of child endangerment) and get my children back?

They feel it has absolutly nothing to do with bad choices and money mismanagement?
It's how you spend your money. Many people I know who are poor have jobs.
But people don't HAVE to smoke, drink, gamble, use illegal drugs, waste money on frivilous things...
I find it disturbing with some of you that even when it is pointed out they smoke in the house with children, sometimes asthmatic, you don't care, you still think these people should not be "judged". What extremes do poor people have to reach to make it permissible to then "judge" them. Statistically, they have more problems with child abuse too, but don't judge, right?
Quite disturbing. I'm wondering how many of you are the classic "ivory tower" liberal or just young and naive.

A person I know, who I kind of don't like, yet like at the same time, got caught dealing drugs. I have known about his drug dealings for a while. However, he's a smart honors student who has been class treasurer and club president of amnesty international at my school. He went to Nicaragua last last summer to try and fix up the country. Yet, two days ago, he got expelled from school. He's 17 and a half, what's going to happen to him? Is he going to go to jail? Is his life basically over? A lot of people thought he was going to get into stanford university. I kind of feel bad for him, yet I guess he got what he deserved. He should never have dealed drugs, he'll do anything for money. So what's going to happen to him?
Btw, i have never done drugs and i never plan to. He has never asked me to do drugs.

I work at an FBO servicing private and general aviation planes in FL. Was offered work next-door doing the same job, as line service technician (lowest in the food chain). Employer was very derrogatory and is threatening to pursue non-compete with legal action. Others have done the same thing, and left to no effect, but employer might be using me as example. Position holds no level of importance or secrecy. There is nothing I can take from them and pass on... Could I go on and start at the other company and dismiss this; even if employer found out where I'm going? What could the consequences be if they decide to enforce it???

my current lawyer is starting his own business in the very near future and it happens to be a business that I know a lot about. Because he worked on my divorce case he knew that I'm familar with this business and offered me a job. Would that be a conflict of interest (for him) having a client as an employee? Is the ethically acceptable? Would I still be able to use him in the future if I'm employed?

This question is prompted by another which I have just answered.
I know it's supposed to be unethical. But exactly what is so unethical about it? Does a doctor not have a right to fall in love, or get into a relationship, like anyone else? And if the "right" person happens to be his/her patient, then what's so wrong about it?
I don't see what's the big issue.
Does this restriction not violate the doctor's freedom given to him by the constitution to marry whom s/he chooses to?
Can someone, preferably a lawyer or doctor, please give a real convincing answer?

Personally I think it would be a violation of religious freedom, and therefore un-American, to require officials to use only the Bible.
