I have as much sympathy as anyone for the poor, but that does not mean that the government has the right to appropriate my tax money to pay for the needs of the poor. The more money we hand over to the government, the more power they gain and the easier it becomes for tyranny to reign. Progressive taxation is immoral and threatens our freedoms.

"We have the right as individuals, to give away as much of our own money as we please in charity; but as members of Congress we have no right to appropriate a dollar of the public money." Rep. David Crockett; Approx.1838

i wrote : and it happened in thier front yard, the 2 guys were trying to grab him cause they knocked him off his bike with thier truck and he was crawling back wards on the ground, so his sister ran inside and got thier mom, and when she came out the guys took off, my nephew is ok, but the cops came 2 hours later, and my sister in law said she was gonna shhot them. the cops told her if she did she wouldbe in jail. i really dont understand why, if it was on her property and shes trying to protect her child, shed be sittin in jail, they told her, if your gonna shoot, shoot to kill, theres 2 sides to every story. the system here is so messed up.

SORRY I FORGOT TO ASK THE QUESTION: I dont understand why she would be in jail if she was protecting her kids, especially if it was on her property. id shoot the guys who tryed to mess with my kids.

i am writing a paper about how the issue with birth control is being interferred with by the bush administration- i feel that he is trying to put restrictions on birth control with reasons backed by religion which is against the constutution's "separation of church an state". E.g. he just appointed eric keroack, who is very much against birth control as the head of funding for family planning clinics. He will only fund sex education that meet certain criterias.

I am wondering how people feel about this situation- for or against

Seen a few articles about this, but wanted to know from people in the legal community. Not to say that I want to upset and feel the wrath from a Best Buy, but I want to know what my rights are as a consumer. (I'm in CA, btw, if state laws are different)

How does one get invited to these things? According to an article in Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/07/AR2006120702068.html)
there will be a $75 admission ticket for the 1/17/07 event. I don't mind paying that. Any ideas on how I should proceed? Serious/knowledgeable answers only, please.

My neighbour is upset ,being Hindu /Sikh, you are not suppose to "cut" children's hair. It is done in the temple and with a religious ceremony etc. The child is 2 years old and I took her out for the evening ,being the so called "Aunt" for an evening of fun. While at the mall I gave the child a "kid's haircut". The parents , especially the Mother were not happy. They told me they need to do special prayers etc. The Father wanted me to pay for a trip to India of up to $20,000 for the mistake and the time spent in prayers.
I have made amends with tthe Sikh temple and need to go their for 30 days and pray for repents. etc. I am doing that now. I have contacted the Police and they sent a SIKH Policeman to talk to the Father...he says he wants to go ahead with a lawsuit. I told him that he would not win and that it was a mistake not done intentionally. He says...You cut my daughter's hair ...you pay money. I want to apologize and see the child again. I am just uncertain what works now!!!!

How come you can buy a handgun at Wal-Mart but they dont sell Maxim magazine cause it's not family orianted? So what happens when a father buys a gun at Wal-mart and shoots his family? Is it still considered family oriented?

It sounds funny, but this person drives me nuts. She lives with me for about 8-9 months, she has her mail as an evidence of her residence. She does not pay rent for the last 3 months.
Will it be LEGAL if I just change the lock and take her staff out of the house?

The house was purchased under both my father and my stepmpther's name in California in the 80's. My father passed away last year. Recently, I have just found out that my stepmother had sold the house to her son ( from her previous marriage) without informing us. She sold the house to her son for much under the current market value. Can she do that? Can she sell the house without informing us? After the dead of my father, does she get 100% of the house?

I understand that it's difficult to identify exactly who sent the spam. But it's obvious which companies are paying for the spam, e.g. the online pharmacies, weight loss companies, etc. Why can't they be prosecuted for littering my inbox with crap?

I know someone who was an employee of a store and got banned for giving out to many discounts on discount days. This person was a loader and was put on register after getting hurt on the job. This person was not trained properly and now this person is banned from the store but I don't think this is fair. Now this individual gets told not to go any where near the store.. Doesn't seem fair to me.

Lets imagine somewhere down the road comes a religion where a person is not allowed to be injected with the same exact fluids that are used during the process of executing someone. Now lets say that I'm a member of this religion and I protested it because it's against my religion. Also, there aren't any other methods of execution. So I protest it because it's violating my religious rights. What would happen? Would the courts excuse me or would I go ahead with it?

Ok, I went to my local mall today, where there is a best buy. I went into the Best Buy at 10:00 AM, I walked through the door, and next to the door, there is a customer service/ receipt checking stand. I walk maybe 5 feet into the store, and the guy at the stand called me over. He asked me "How old are you?" To which I replied "17". He then said "You cant be here, you have to leave, you can come back at 3:00", and he then followed me to the door. I was maybe in the store a total of 30 seconds. Keep in mind, there were other people shopping in the store. I was so dumbfounded that I didn't even reply. I just wanted to look at Pink Floyd Cd's, I didn't realize that there was an age limit.

Also, for the record, I have never stolen anything, and I buy alot of items from this Best Buy. I have never done anything that would promote them not to allow me into the store.

My Question is, is this legal? Can Best Buy do this?

A friend just recently learned that her son is made to set on the boarding/unloading steps of the school bus while transporting children to school as a disciplinary action for her (overly active) kindergartner. This sounds like a very dangerous and maybe unlawful decision by the bus driver. I've looked around on the internet and have'nt been able to find any rules or saftey laws. Anyone know where I might find som info?
