How does one get invited to these things? According to an article in Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/07/AR2006120702068.html)
there will be a $75 admission ticket for the 1/17/07 event. I don't mind paying that. Any ideas on how I should proceed? Serious/knowledgeable answers only, please.

That's a good answer (answer #1), but I actually managed to get on the invitation list by calling the 'transition office'. Dumb luck, I guess :). Thanks

Contact the Maryland Democratic Party. They likely are the ones dishing out the tickets. Or contact anyone you know in elected office in Maryland: they may have contacts or contact information.

When I worked in the U.S. Congress, every Member was given a certain amount of Inauguration tickets. Perhaps it works the same way with the Maryland legislature.

If you contribute campaign funds to the party or to the governor's campaign, you will get invited. I work in the field and have been to lots of inaugurations and balls.

Contact the governor's local campaign office and offer contributions and volunteer time. Then ask for an invitation. You usually have to contribute at least $500.
