The US has a litigious mentality. In essence, even our criminals sue for things like not getting smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy while they are in prison. People order hot coffee, then put it in between their legs. Once they are burned, it is the maker of the hot coffee that is responsible, not the idiot that put the coffee in between their legs.

I think this really started with the "Twinkie Defense", when a former city councilman shot other members of government. His lawyer said it was because of all the junk food he was eating at the time. I believe he got off on "mental insanity."

Everybody is always looking for a free ride...

Blame it on liberals and and the ACLU. Nobody is responsible for anything so something happens then clearly you have to sue because it wasn't your fault. Granted not all lawsuits are bad it is just past couple decades Americans have become lazy and expect everything handed to them. Come on Paris Hilton is a celebrity here that tells you how low our culture has dropped. If she was not rich she could bot even hold a job at walmart. Her job would involve dollars in her thong.

because per capita there are more lawyers in the usa than anywhere else
