my current lawyer is starting his own business in the very near future and it happens to be a business that I know a lot about. Because he worked on my divorce case he knew that I'm familar with this business and offered me a job. Would that be a conflict of interest (for him) having a client as an employee? Is the ethically acceptable? Would I still be able to use him in the future if I'm employed?

No conflict.

Well, let's see, if your divorce is finalized and you're no longer in need of his services you're not technically a client any longer.

I don't see why it would be a breach of ethics for him to hire you. As far you using him to represent you in the future, I imagine he would turn you down if he felt it was a breach of the bar for him.

He's the one who ultimately would have to decide if his legal ethics are being breached, I'm sure he wouldn't offer you a job if he thought it would be an issue.
