Politicains continue to bring out well meant but stupid legislation to make life difficult for good tradespeople whilst the cowboys still carry on. Why dont they have to conform to approval by overpriced and officious accreditaion bodies.

I am a witness to an accident that occured in a nearby state. I'm concerned that I may be called to testify without much advance notice.

How much notice do I need to be given? Please keep in mind that I live in another state than the location of the trial.

Today I tried cashing a Liberty Bank & Trust loan check ($2,110.00) at one of our two local Region's Bank branch and, this branch is the first I've ever been to because it's further away from me. Anyway, this lady told me (without doing any checking on my account) that the check could not be cashed unless I had the check amount face value in my checking account. I told them that doesn't seem right because I always cash my work checks with the other local Region's bank branch without a problem (and I almost never have the check face value in my checking account). Then the lady said that my job check must be issued by Regions. And I said no, that's not the case. Then they said that that's not possible and that I was wrong. I was really upset at this point. So, I said whatever and left to the other Regions Bank (the one I go to all the time + more diverse) and they cashed my check without a problem. I feel like I have been discriminated upon because I'm latino. Have I been discriminated?

Hey guys. I've been posting simular questions every month for a while now.
I recieved a ticket in the mail on May 31st of 05. The date written on the ticket was May 15th, at which time I was in Spain. The case was continued many times until July 06. At that time they changed the date to March 31st, which I was unprepared to defend myself against. (My lawyer, who was not court appointed, let all this slide) I was sentanced to 15 days in Jail and 3 years with no lisence despite the fact that I have never had a ticket. (I've had my lisence more than 3 years) We appealed, because I am in college full time and working 37 hrs a week, and obviously cannot afford to go to jail. I honestly do not believe I passed this school bus. the bus driver no longer remembers the time, the lisence plate, or the road name, though she says she has gotten 6 other people tickets at the same place. My next court date is Oct. 16th. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Please be professional :-)

My child's mother violated california child abduction law by moving with my son and I subsequently lost my scheduled visitation. I indicated to the police that once she was located I wanted to press charges. They located her and stated that they felt my child was not in any danger and despite the fact she was in direct violation of the law, they told me I should settle the matter in family court. They would not give me her address so I had to get the child abduction unit to find her and serve her with papers to appear in court. She failed to appear and this prolonged the situation. It took eight months for me to finally get her in family court. This could have been avoided if the city attorney had not ignored the fact that she had broken the law and allowed her to continue this behavior for 8 months. I live in New York, so I had to fly back to california on several occassions in the interest of locating my child. I missed his birthday & graduation from pre-school a a result of this

Do you think these sociopathic teenagers shooting up their schools would reconsider knowing that a new law would charge their parents with murder since they are the gun owners? Those guns didn't have locks, they were in a flimsy cabinet. It seems like these gun loving NRA members are making the most convincing case for stricter gun laws. People can sue cigarette manufacturers after knowingly smoking dangerous light cigarettes, but gun manufacturers can't be touched for making tech-9s and not doing enough to make guns safe and secure, and to promote responsible ownership. What a joke!

I have a caregiver who lives with my parents. I have paid her quite well for the last year and a half but she has recently become irresponsible (recently took two extra days of vacation without telling anyone and started to feed my mom less food so that she wouldn't have to give her insulin). In addition to a salary we have allowed her to live there rent free with no charge for utilities or groceries.
I want her out but I want her out on the same day that I tell her so that she can not retaliate on my mother. Can I do this legally?
Thanks

I am just curious - if you believe that marijuana should NOT be made legal have you ever tried it? Not someone you know... but you? I'm just wondering here, I am NOT trying to start a debate.

(I'm for legalization but I'm not here to argue with people - just a friendly yes or no question for my personal curiosity)

Something like saving receipts for all the purchases to make sure the money is being used to benefit the child and to prevent the mom from using that money to go shopping and buying unnecessary things for her own benefit.
