I mean at court or a tribunal hearing your asked by the judge to swear in affirming that all that you say will be truth. You have the option to swear on the bible or not.But you must affirm that you are telling the truth. If somone wants to lie they will probably lie even at the point of being sworn in..so whats the point?

Let's say an airplane of country A, fly from country X to country Y, and something happens, says a passenger stab another one (to simplify, assume both passengers are from country X or Y, not A).

So which law will apply? country A's, X's or Y's?

This is a real question, not riddle.

It makes the average joe wonder who the real "troublemakers" are when employers are out to fire people for petty nonsense like that.

They have an attorney but they do not seem to be doing all that much to get the appeal moving. I just want to be able to find some things to give to the attorney to help get things moving.

O.K... I got in a wreck that was said to be my fault. It is said that I ran a red light and this is how it was determined that the wreck was my fault (even though I was side swiped). Well, I was issued a ticket for running the red light which I went to court for. I got the ticket dismissed due to a technicality. Is the wreck still considered my fault since I got the ticket dismissed?

Can defamation of character in a blog be the target of legal action? If so, can you give some examples of what would and would not be considered libel?

Where can I find help to pay my my medical bill? I have had an accident, needed orthopedic surgury, and now I must pay.
I know that I am lucky to even get treatment (and very good treatment by the way)without to paying cash or having insurance, ect.
But the bill is extremely high. I think they must inflate the bill of people such as myself to offset the "losses" incured by treating medcaid/medicare (insured) patients...if you know anything about this topic, then will understand that.

I am not being cheap.I honesty dont have the money.
I had no choice in the matter.
If anyone knows of Government programs or agencies that can help please respond. Either to help me pay it , or to investigate the outrageously high costs.
Thank you.

Let me explain. I was approached to do an impromtou interview, (basically put on the spot), the person told me they were with a reputable magazine that I have worked for in the past. 2 weeks later I find out they were actually from a trashy magazine that I would NEVER speak to!! They just wrote what I told them and nothing was constrewed, but my publicist was pissed!! It's never good to talk to these magazines. Chances are they will use that interview for the next 6months and take what I said out of context eventually. Anyways, I guess I just want to know, can I sue them for fraud or something? My lawyer is on holidays and I don't want to be represented by anyone else, just want some advice. P.S, not looking for money here, I have plenty of my own. Just think they shouldn't be allowed to do this!!

For example, a judge orders someone to stand on their head for a week. What is the legal term for such an impossible order that can't be carried out?

I think we should make all moral laws based on the voters of each state and county it must be put on the ballot and voted for...not by lawyers in federal court...
for example:
gay marriage
death penalty
assisted suicide
abortion
etc...
let the people decide....

Hey guys =)

What does the yellow traffic light mean? My mom says that it means to 'slow down', but I believe that it just means that a red light is coming, and if you cannot cross the intersection in time then to slow down.

We were going down a road and when we were almost to the intersection, the light turned yellow. My mom stopped (although we could've easily made it through the intersection). Who was right?

PS I live in Indiana

The govt. knows that alcohol is addictive, it destroys your liver, kills thousands of Americans every year, and causes normally peaceful people to react violently. It can simply ruin your life, and the lives of your family.
Don't misunderstand me. I like a few beers or a shot or two. I also smoke. Likewise, the govt. knows tobacco is addictive, causes lung cancer, and like alcohol, causes birth defects.
Pot, to me, is on the bottom teir of illegal drugs. Although it may be habitual, it's not physically addictive. I've seen no evidence suggesting any internal damage to the body, other than the smoke from smoking it. It's natural, not processed. I've never known it to cause violent actions.
I just don't understand the justification for locking up non-violent users of pot. In my opinion, it's a lesser evil than alcohol. Is it simply because the govt. can't figure out a way to tax it like the others?

In many places a woman is not safe anymore, I feel carrying a gun on my person would be a good protection against violence aimed at me or rape.
